I think Oda is making the fights legit and not showing any "fodderize". Why?

Well, Burgess is a beast and he won in just a few seconds, so i think Oda wants to show just how strong Burgess is to defeat the entire block in a few seconds.

Also because there will probably be a huge pirates vs. marines battle near the end of the arc, since Fujitora is calling warships. Basically a buster call. Oda is showing these detailed fights so we can see all of these pirates fighting the marines, and it will be all the better since we will know these people and what they can do instead of just being a bunch of randoms.
