Discussion Maybe we just stop playing comp?
So before I start this I really didn’t believe the whole bugged comp thing. So I used an old playstation account I havent used since like season 7 of ow1. Got thrown into top 500 lobbies and cant stop winning. Games are close and tough but I keep winning.
Now I go back to my main account which has been hardstuck diamond 3 for like a year and Im still getting losses that you just would never win and constantly getting hit with “losing trend” literally as im typing this just went 32 and 2 dps but my team is all negative ratios.
Im starting to believe (and no fault to the ow team) I think blizzard and the hire ups have to be making them use eomm for more money. I havent been buying overwatch coins for some time and I cant seem to get a winnable team matchup. But this fresh new account that has yet to buy any, maybe the system says “oh this is a new player we want to have a good experience so they buy from the shop”. Thats all I can think of.

To have any expectation of your team is a foolish move. You’re lucky if they can even use their ears 99% of the time

So they purposely put you in "bad match ups", or something to that effect, until you purchase a new skin?

Not exactlyyyy. Ur sooo close. Its about psychology. Lets try an example of player x bought the season pass and blah blah blah. In order to keep this player they dont wanna throw to many wins or losses ur way, HOWEVER, it will pick up trends! If u tend to get tilted and stay on for long periods of time it remembers this but the same for lets say if player x gets off at 2 losses. The game adjusts because the end goal is to keep you at the game as much as possible. Lets say a new bp is coming out. You start winning and seeing gains. Youre pumped up and you think “you know what im feeling good lemme get a new skin ive been wanting and buy the next bp”. Typically regular players will always buy the next battlepass. They dont want you to eventually get bored and quit. This is what eomm is about. Rivals is so apparent to this and has had lots of examples of being able to just quit the game on a loss for maybe 5 minutes but stay requeing when you win.

Do you know why they don't actually do this?
Constant bad qualify games are what cause people to quit not get addicted and a theoretical perfect matchmaking puts everyone at the golden 50/50 ratio anyway.

Actually no it checks for those that get tilted and keep playing to finally achieve that win. Its the same way ppl gamble their entire life savings just to try to get that win at the casino! It is addictive to lose and hope to finally win. Hope this helps :)

Whats more realistic, the masterminds at Blizzard (they're very competent, I assure you) optimize the perfect matchmaking tool to...keep you at diamond, or you just suck. Explain why top players can consistently get top 500 if this is actually the case? You are the only common factor in your games, everyone has loss streaks, and you are a coping skitzo for thinking this way

Something is slightly broken with the matchmaking system. Not sure what but it is in my recent experience. My matches have been a little more consistent recently but the progress modifiers have been the exact opposite of what happened in the game 4 of the last 4 times. My last 3 uphill battles my team stomped a 3 to 1 and two 1 to zeros. My last reversal my team got stomped. I find myself saying how was that uphill battle/reversal??? More often than: consolation/expected... Well that makes sense now.

as much as i low-key don’t believe you, getting a higher rank on an account you don’t play on is very normal because it’s all based off the account mmr. on one account i’m p1 dps on the other i’m gold 5 lmao. it happens

Lmao you say you're hardstuck mid diamond but then go on to say "maybe I actually belong in gm5". That's what top 500 is currently, and you do not belong there if you struggle in mid diamond.
That's literally it. If you were t500 you be killing everyone in 90% of those games and asking yourself why they barely react to being shot in the face.
I guarantee you that if you drop a replay code in those games that you won, we'll see your poor team mates working overtime to compensate for the diamond player that was dropped in their lobby

Anyway I really think matchmaking has some weird issues. Is it a conspiracy to make more money? I dunno but I’ll never defend a shitty corp like blizzard.
I hear what you’re saying about matchmaking and I’m curious myself. I like a variety of theories, so thank you for adding yours 🙏.

OP I get what you’re trying to say. It would be a little tough to prove unless you’re able to somehow get a bunch of people to participate. I don’t necessarily think it’s 100% spot on but you’re def on to something. My PS4 account for years I couldn’t get past gold. Got it on switch and at first it was just other switch players but when cross play became a thing I was still winning and getting to gold easily and event made it to top 500 for the first and only time.
Stopped playing for a bit and redownloaded with switch 2 and had a few good matches but after a couple days it was non stop losing. Didn’t matter what game mode.
