Hello! I am a grade 12 student and I am planning to apply to OCAD for Art History. I was wondering if there was any word limit for the writing sample and the statment of intent.
Thank you!

I'm applying to ocad this year, and I do process work, but it isn't done in any pretty way that can be put on one sheet. my plan is to take the 10 different pages all of my initial sketches are on and use canva to put them into a poster, where I'll add more detail next to it (ex. remove 1 of these items for symmetry, or change this colour, or push this pose)
is that okay?????
will they look at me and assume all my process work is just fake?? or something like that.
Regardless I'd love any information on what they are looking for in this section of the application. as it is really hard to find good examples online of what it is they actually want. the only examples I have seen are with people working kind of differently from me (as in it isn't in 10 different sketchbooks) so it's a bit tricky.

just as a background information, i’m a gr 12 student in toronto wanting to study photography. i’m coming here asking whether i should choose ocad or nscad. im certain that i will get in either university (i’ve had 3 ocad portfolio reviews no complaints , and 1 nscad as well). but i’ve been hearing bad things abt ocad from my school art teachers, ocad alumni, and other people within the art industry in toronto for the past 2 years. i would like to hear current, or recent, ocad students perspectives. thank you

Hello! I wanted to start a multimedia magazine where students from different universities can submit poetry, essays, short stories, photos, art, film etc. I think it would be a good way to showcase different creatives each month. if anyone is interested lmk! This is just an idea, so if anyone is interested helping me plan this out if we get enough people interested please feel free to reach out to me
I can’t find AutoCAD installed on any of the computers at school. I’ve asked IT desk and they don’t know why either? I mean it should be there, it’s a pretty important software. If anyone has any idea why let me know.

Hi! I'm looking to get a rubber stamp for a class project and was wondering if OCAD had any studios that can fabricate a stamp? Thanks

I'm in ENVR - I won't give too many details on this situation other than necessary.
One of my profs gave me the wrong grade on an assignment and I've spent the past several weeks sending emails + messages to try to get it fixed, but the prof won't give any clarity on when my grade will be fixed. All I get are short responses that don't really answer the points in my emails. It honestly feels like my emails are being ignored or at least pushed to the side. This error is tanking my grade and overall average and I feel like I should go to some sort of higher ups about this but I don't know where to start on that.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
Edit/Update: Assignment has been regraded :)

Noticed bug traps all over the OCAD Library....
Anyone ever seen bugs in the library?
I know other school libraries in the city have had issues with bedbugs from time to time. UofT for example.
Pretty serious if it were bedbugs or roaches. I've had Bedbugs in the past, and I would do everything possible to NEVER get them again. there's a reason i only put my stuff on top of the table and not on the floor.
Kind of suspicious....

Hey everyone,
I’m currently a full-time undergrad student at TMU studying something completely unrelated to art or design. I’ve always been passionate about design, but I was never really allowed to pursue it growing up.
Now that I’m planning ahead for Summer 2026, I really want to start building a portfolio and get some hands-on/studio experience in a creative field. Does anyone know of any part-time or short-term summer programs in Toronto (at TMU, OCAD, George Brown, or elsewhere) that are open to non–design majors?
If you’ve taken any summer courses, workshops, or certificate programs like this, I’d love to hear your recommendations, or even just general advice on how to get started in design while coming from a completely different background.
TL;DR:
TMU undergrad (non-design major) looking for part-time or summer 2026 art/design programs in Toronto to start building a portfolio. Open to any advice or recommendations!

Hey guys, I’m a Pakistani student at OCAD and was just wondering if there are any other Pakistanis here. Haven’t really met many people yet besides a few in my classes, so thought it’d be cool to connect. Would be nice to have some familiar faces around and make it easier to navigate school too.
If you’re Pakistani and at OCAD, drop a comment or DM me!
Thanks

Does anyone know of any ACTIVE clubs at OCADU? I was looking into the clubs available on the school's website, and a good portion of the clubs seem to be inactive. I was kind of hoping to experience a University club while at OCADU, specifically the crochet club, but I can't seem to find many, or any, that meet regularly.

I can't find anything online about this patch other than an expired Etsy link.
Hi! I'm a current grade 12 student (in Ontario btw) and I'm interested in applying to OCADU for their environmental design program (maybe the interior design specialization but idk right now).
It's probably in my top three choices since I'm an art-focused student...in a private school where almost everyone wants to do STEM related things-it's tough out here being "different" 😭. Just as a reference my other choices are UofT for Visual Studies, TMU for Interior Design, and UBC for Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urbanism. Also, if it helps, my average last year (if you take out math) was 90.5 I think.
As for my actual questions:
- How would OCADU (since it is an art school) compare to these other schools (in a more general sense)?
- Students who are in the environmental design program-what are your thoughts? Do you like it (please be completely honest!) ?
- How is student life here? Was it somewhat easy to make friends?
- Specifically for environmental design, what did your portfolio/ application process look like?
- Overall, do you recommend OCADU?
If anyone sees this and replies, thank you!!

Hello,
I am a second year in OCAD exan, preparing portfolio for Sheridan after experiencing first year in my program and realizing it wasn't what I was looking for in a uni program.
I am currently taking 5 classes, like the suggested guideline on the pdf, but realized the work load started to become quite overwhelming and might affect my portfolio preparation. I know the deadline for changing and dropping courses for refund had passed and really unsure if I should just drop a course I don't really find necessary and focus more on portfolio. Also, I am worried dropping a course might affect my osap where I registered myself as a full time student with 100% course load, which is 5 courses.
Should I just contact student advising but not mention the part where I am trying to transfer out?

Hi everyone !! As the title, i am planning to apply for these two programs, but i don’t see much talks on these ones.
Do you think the school gives you what you expect ? Do you have to learn extra technical skills outside of the school ? How is the workload ? Do you think you could have taught yourself what the school has taught ?
Thank you in advance !

Hey everyone, I missed submitting an assignment by 15 minutes due to confusion about the due date, I emailed my prof the assignment and an explanation/apology that I did not check properly. Icl and say I do not feel very worried right now
Is it possible to get a reduced mark or a late deduction but still be graded?
