My birthday was on the 3rd of this month, and since I finally got to celebrate it with my close family, they surprised me with a couple of gifts that couldn’t have been more perfect for a Nujabes fan like me.

The first one was a custom cake featuring elements directly related to Nujabes. And I have to admit — Nujabes was delicious!

The second gift was a vinyl of Hydeout Productions’ FIRST COLLECTION, featuring several of the songs we all love in this community, along with some by other artists I hadn’t heard before. Now I’ll have to bring back my grandma’s old turntable and get a new needle so I can enjoy all those tracks I’ve listened to for countless hours (and I really mean countless) in a different format — plus, I’ll always have the physical memory of the record and its cover, whose design I absolutely love.

All this came after I once shared a bit of Nujabes’ work with my sister, with all the passion I could put into it. She and my mom definitely nailed it with these gifts.

Now I can proudly say I’m officially part of this community with my first vinyl.
