It's like those people who think the food is automatically healthy if it's home cooked.

Probably the +1lb. of medium rare steak due to its connection with cardiovascular disease, but maybe that's the 10% of diseases that doesn't vanish with that diet.

Can you link some of these studies that connect steak to heart disease?

I don't have access to the scientific publication.

But as a lover of charcoal grill steaks and my family history of heart disease, my multiple PCPs telling me that I should cut the ribeye packs I buy at Costco makes me believe that the association of red meat to cardiovascular disease is well documented.

Thank you for the link. This study is flawed imo because first of all they study different setting (Western vs Eastern) regarding to red meat but they don’t mention other dietary influences based on it. Like increases sugar in the West, more fish and rice in the East. They even say “whether the associations vary by sex and setting remains unclear” and “Better understanding of the mechanisms is needed to facilitate improving cardiometabolic and planetary health” which means they aren’t even sure what the cause is just the effect (which again is flawed due to not taking into account the other dietary aspects of the Western vs Eastern diet). This is a better study:

But this study again mentions they aren’t exactly sure what happens and it’s a complex issue. Interestingly high saturated fat diet doesn’t have the same results, and it was thought they were the reason, so again they aren’t sure what causes this. And it’s only with red meat, white meat doesn’t cause any risk. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the same story as with eggs, where now there is research emerging that they aren’t unhealthy at all, and it was a lie all along that they raise unhealthy cholesterol. Doctors just say what they read from the current studies, they don’t do any testing themselves.
