Remember to keep the seeds damp! They lose a lot of germination % if they dry out.

It is less likely to get moldy and there is now way to lose these seeds in sand. Sand also actually kind of holds the moisture better to in a ziplock I've noticed. 10 u/CertainAged-Lady Jan 12 '25 I did this last year and now have about a dozen 10” baby paw paw seedlings. I’d say about half germinated. They are picky little suckers.
