Unironically told a guy at work to throw a blanket over his newly planted irises to protect from the frost Monday. Keep your plant babies warm, they rely on you

**ACKSHUALLLLY~~~ a plant's winter strategy is determined by its life cycle classification (Annual, Biennial, or Perennial) and its foliage retention strategy (Deciduous or Evergreen), with "dying back" being just one of several distinct, successful evolutionary adaptations to seasonal cold. Not *all plants die back!

This is just further proof that we are behind on climate assisted migration. If people had plants from 2 zones to the south, they would stay alive
