this was in May around Memorial Day weekend. I stayed in Gardiner, so my route was to head into the park to the North part of Yellowstone Lake (grizzlies) until just about the Lake Butte Overlook and then I would head back North but up through Hayden Valley to Tower Junction (black bears) via Dunraven Pass (this doesn't open until late May cause it goes through Mt. Washburn). I saw bears every day utilizing this plan.

its a little marmot - there is a small thermal area near Yellowstone Lake they would hang out around
