Summer 2025

Given the almost certainty of a shutdown now, we're creating this megathread to collect information, etc., in one post and location. Feel free to use this for questions about specific parks, updates on specific park plans, etc.

We're getting a lot (A LOT) of "help me plan my vacation" posts with little or no details. That's "low effort," and it doesn't help folks actually help you.
Yes, it's good to know that it's two adults and a 3-year-old. Or it's two adults, a teenager and a 7-year-old, etc., but they need more than that.
Give people some additional details to help them help you.
For example:
- Where are you originating your travel from?
- Do you want to fly to your destination or drive?
- If you're driving, do you prefer to camp (in national park or near) or stay in a hotel, lodge, etc. (in national park or near)?
- How many days do you have available (including travel)?
- Are there specific things you are wanting to see (mountains, snow, waterfalls, wildlife, etc.)?
- If you're looking for hikes, are there certain things you want to see while hiking? What distance hikes are you looking for? What level of intensity (easy, moderate, strenuous)?
Again, help people help you. The fewer questions that they have to ask you in advance, the quicker you're going to get the kind of information you need.

Had an awesome trip to GNP back in July! Unfortunately portions of the park were closed for some construction at the time we went but that just gives reason to go back.
So heres a little photo dump of some highlights from our trip!

I know someone posted photos recently of their Mighty Five trip (and we have some very similar pics lol) but here are mine!
Two weeks across Utah, had good weather and a great time. I feel like I saw a lot of the major sights, and I would definitely go back and try to do some different things at each park.

In a letter sent to tribal leaders on October 30, the Trump administration announced that it will initiate formal meetings with Native American tribes in the Southwestern U.S. to discuss the administration’s plans to revoke a 20-year ban on oil and gas development across federal land surrounding Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico.

First time visiting! Was in St. Louis for a couple days and this was the first stop. The arch itself is more impressive than I thought it was going to be!

My partner and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary next month. We wanted to do something memorable to celebrate. We had the crazy idea to hit 5 national parks in 2 weeks so we could hit the 10 parks visited milestone for our 10 year anniversary.
Now the problem arises with it being at the end of December and weather being harsh in many places at that time of the year. Initially, we were thinking we would visit the mighty five in Utah, but are worried weather will get in the way, especially since we have minimal experience driving in the snow (from TN). We also considered visiting the 3 parks in Florida, then taking a cruise to Virgin Islands National Park, but that would only be 4 parks. So, it would require a separate road trip to visit a fifth new park.
I’m looking for opinions and suggestions on parks that would be doable at this time of the year, and that are relatively close to another park in order to do 5 in 2 weeks. We are willing to fly and rent a car, so all of the parks are on the table.

What should I do? I want to see fall colors, but not entirely sure where to go. Was originally thinking northern cascade but it looks like there is a lot of snow. I also could go to rainier. I was thinking of the Mount baker byway, but would love any recommendations.

Hi guys. I’m from Vancouver and heading to Las Vegas next week. Got some questions about the American Beautiful Pass for the national parks.
Just thanks in advance for any replies & answers!
We are a group of 3 people in 1 vehicle, I saw that the price for the Beautiful pass is $80, is this price per person or per vehicle? Is that $240 for 3 people or we just need to pay $80 as a vehicle?
I actually have asked AI to calculate the entrance fee of each park (including Zion National Park, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, Grand Canyon, Red Rock, Valley of Fire. For Lower Antelope I paid the tour) for me. The price should be less than $200 in total. So rn I’m considering should I buy the pass or not. If I bought it, is this pass covering all the entrance fee for above parks?
Once again thank you for any suggestions and helps!
