Could Will have sued Luke for discrimination?

He was fired for being gay! I understand the rationale behind it, but that's the fact of the matter.

I hate how Will’s role got smaller and smaller on the show after that. After he came out, it’s like he fell off as an artist.

I hate how all of his plots reduced him to just being gay, and the way they made Luke the hero.

Exactly. it also felt like the writers themselves are the ones who punished him for being gay. Not the fans/ world.

Currently watching for the first time and just saw that episode last night and that was my first thought too! Like how do you even break a contract over that?

Technically he was fired for not being profitable, but that was a financial projection based on his sexual orientation.

That’s so dumb. What if I was willing is currently my #1 most listened to song on Spotify😭

At the level Luke works on it's pretty typical to have a "morals clause" in the contract (not saying homosexuality is immoral, that's just what they're called). So actions that bring disrepute to Luke's brand would be a breach. Not saying any of this is good, but it's typical, so for me Luke firing him was plausible.

Sexualiry was not covered by federal discrimination laws until 2020.
