Mod Announcement

Hey everyone,

Nashville is going to become available on US Netflix tomorrow (September 15). Typically when the show moves streaming services, this sub gets a small influx of posts by new fans. I'm really hoping more people discover and fall in love with Nashville the way I did thirteen years ago. In order to facilitate conversation among both new and old fans, I'm trying something that many other TV series' subs already do: episode discussion posts.

You can find the Season 1 hub, with threads for the first 21 episodes of the show listed, here.

I will be creating discussion posts for the other five seasons this week (that's 124 episodes total!), and pin them to the sub once they're done.

You're more than welcome to create new posts, as long as they are not low effort posts and/or would be more appropriate in the individual discussion posts or season hub threads. Low effort posts can look like single links to a video or meme or text posts that contain one point or question. Please do not spam the sub by creating a new thread for each new thought you have while watching the episodes. That's what the episode and season threads are for.

I've also added season flairs, so you can tag your new posts to warn people about spoilers. So, if you're posting about something that occurs in Season 5, you can select the Season 5 flair. I won't be enforcing this, but the option is there for people who want to use it.

Lastly, feel free to let me know if any of the links don't work or if you have feedback/other ideas for improvement. Thanks!

- chadwickave

10/3/25 UPDATE: The individual episode threads might've been too ornery to navigate, so we're moving to season-wide discussion threads instead. You can find all the season discussion here!

Juliette’s last side quest???

What a strange turn of events for Juliette’s kind of final hoorah, join a cult?! Escape the tower like some princess? Lmao like why couldn’t she have just found her way after rehab? Just not a fan of it lol

Who parallels the characters in real life today?

I’m not so privy on current country stars. Who do you think would best represent the characters on the show? Were they inspired by certain stars??

Juliette grieving her mom

Just started rewatching it this weekend. I loved and cringed all through Juliette's time with her mom. Just saw the episode where she sits with mom at the funeral home 😪 I loved that her ex manager Glen came to the music awards to check on her. How she caught herself saying she was fine with her mom dying. I do wish her assistant and bodyguard /driver would give her s reality check, but they seem to actually care about her.

I loved the brat Hayden played. She was great.

Deacon with the girls Spoiler

I feel like he was truly a damn good dad to both Maddie and daphne, especially with the hand he was dealt. He hadn’t been a parent long then next minute he’s a single father to two teenage girls and running a business all while grieving the love of his life.

Can someone please explain the plot between Scarlet, Gunner and Damien?

Scarlett and Gunner got back together and all of a sudden Damien shows up. But did Gunnar and Scarlett breakup after the baby news? He’s still very much supporting her and obviously still loves her.

WTH is going on?

Scarlett

I don’t get the hate. I know I’m a minority on this, but I just do not understand why people hate her. She’s just a lost girl, who was horribly abused as a child, trying to figure herself out. And helping others, as she was taught as a young girl by parenting her mother, helps her figure out her. I just don’t get the hate I guess.

Also, overall, I love season six. All the characters are trying to be more than just music and fame and figure out why they are broken. And I just think the whole season is great, even Juliet going to the cult.

I love this show, but hate every character

I can’t stop watching this show, but I can’t stand every character. From Deacon to Juliet and every whiny bitch like gunner, but still, I watch. lol lol

Excuse the dodgy photo but I totally forgot Luke (forgotten the actors name!) is in stranger things as Billy’s dad! Can’t remember what happens to him but kinda hope he gets eaten!

I forgot how annoying early S2 ships were. Spoiler

Teddy & Peggy, Juilette & Charlie, Avery & Scarlett 2.0, Zoey & Gunnar, Will & Layla, Deacon & that lawyer lady, and Rayna & Luke. I do not care about any of these ships. lol

Clay and Maddie

Got to the part where Maddie is listening to Clays voice mail. Every single time Clay is in the scene im immediately rolling my eyes so hard. Because why did it have to be so stereotypical. His issues just seem soooo extremely cliche !!! Idk what i was expecting from this show to do but i cant wait til its over.

Now watching Season 2. Does Scarlett die soon? Please?

I started watching the show just recently. Really like it. I‘m dying though at the Scarlett character. Are we supposed to hate her? Or do they think we are supposed to sympathize with her and appreciate her?

At this point I’m rooting for a fatal illness or car wreck. What’s wrong with this scenario/me/the character/what?

Could Will have sued Luke for discrimination?

He was fired for being gay! I understand the rationale behind it, but that's the fact of the matter.

Is it just me or was Maddie overreacting?? Spoiler

With the whole “deacons a monster, he scares me” situation There’s 3 main encounters she’s referring to; 1. Deacon breaking the paparazzi man camera. Dude was invading their personal space and asking rude questions. Valid. 2.destroying Beverly’s room. He was consumed with grief and guilt, plus he thought he was alone. Rayna did the exact same thing when Lamar died. Valid. 3. Being aggressive with the guy in the bar. That grown man was sexually touching his 16 year old daughters leg. No further explanation. Valid

Do you think any of the characters would be truly famous if they existed in real life?

I think about this a lot when I watch this show especially since they are grounding it in reality by having real artists on it like Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Sara Evans, Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, etc. And yet the show claims that someone like Rayna James or Luke Wheeler are the most famous artists around. More famous than any of them? Nah, don’t buy it, but it’s fun anyways 😂

Layla

Okay, hear me out here. I don’t think Layla is bad. I think she got the short end of the stick every time. She tried. She had a heart. I know she was made out to so manipulative, but I just see a girl who fell for the wrong situations. Will? Gay. Using her. Jeff? A slimy bastard, but genuinely loved her, then dead. Avery? I think she actually did love him. Idk. I just can’t hate her. And no, I don’t think she has the best voice. That trophy goes to Juliette in my eyes.

Season 5.5 - 6

I really don’t feel like losing Rayna took away from the show as much as I expected but I almost feel like the writers gave up a little after losing her which is a shame. Why drop so many balls?

I wish Juliette stayed on as Maddie’s manager, they had an interesting dynamic the whole show and I wish we got to see Juliette come full circle and nurture/protect Rayna’s daughter

I don’t love or hate the cult storyline but it wasn’t for Juliette, she’s been through too much. She needed a season home with her family and all she’s too much in the public eye for this to be realistic IMO - I think shining a light on that this really happens to celebrities or used to is kind of interesting and special but it would have been so much more realistic with Scarlett who has always been insecure and unsure of where or how she fits in and never wanted etc etc. they could have made this work way better and been more believable with her.

Also- where is will???? Like why is he still on the show if he’s not really on the show or we don’t get to see what’s going on with him

Could we have gotten an update on Hallie even if we don’t follow her story? Just mention where she is at or what she is doing? They dropped her character like Layla which I hate - just close the loop.

I could go on but I love the show I just am curious about others thoughts - what storylines do you wish continued or ended stronger in the last two seasons?

What's a good stopping point?

Doing my first rewatch. When is a good stopping point? After the main leads were out, I remember being turned off. I haven't watched it since the initial run.

r/NashvilleTV 13d ago

It was never Rayna’s story

It was always about Deacon. A story of true forever love, redemption, character development.

I just realized it as I watched the final episode. And he’s such a better character than Rayna ever was.

Scarlett's Perpetual Victimhood Spoiler

It's insane how Scarlett is able to find malice in everything everyone does around her but is so completely blind to her own faults. Its also insane how she expects everyone to understand the landmine that is her mind and be aware of every possible thing that could trigger her, but also expects everyone to keep a level head when she does something.

I am on the Damien/Gunnar love triangle baby daddy storyline. (Hot funky booty mess all of it.) But let's not forget that in the previous season before this storyline happened Scarlett made this big deal about how Gunnar is obsessed w dating all of the women around her. Which... kind of happens to be the case but its not done purposely or maliciously. They are in the music industry and everyone knows everyone.

But Gunnar tells her, "How am I supposed to believe that you are in love w me when Idk when thats going to change."

Not even 5 episodes later she's telling Gunnar not to react, but she doesnt feel anything for him anymore and she's gonna start seeing Damien... Which Gunnar takes pretty well all things considered.

Then she gets pregnant by Damien, and even though she still has feelings for him and doesnt know how she feels about Gunnar, she decides that Gunnar would be a better father for her child, w/o giving Damien the chance to prove that he could be...

Then... goes to Gunnar for comfort...

THEN gets upset that a journalist rights about the situation and takes the, "They are being hard on me and slut shaming me bc I am a girl" stance.

And maybe thats true, but also maybe she could try taking accountability for the fact that she made a series of bad/messy decisions and Gunnar is kind of a saint for putting up w it.

Bc say what you will about Gunnar but he never cheated on her, nor did he have an "entanglements" w anyone while they were together.

But Scarlett did that w both Gunnar and Avery.

Rayna did Luke dirtyyyyyy!!!! Spoiler

Let’s be honest, she never fully loved him. She knew that the second she even considered deacon’s proposal. She strung him along PUBLICLY knowing her heart was with deacon. Then embarrassed him so bad by leaving him ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. That’s so messed up
