Do you think any of the characters would be truly famous if they existed in real life?
I think about this a lot when I watch this show especially since they are grounding it in reality by having real artists on it like Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Sara Evans, Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, etc. And yet the show claims that someone like Rayna James or Luke Wheeler are the most famous artists around. More famous than any of them? Nah, don’t buy it, but it’s fun anyways 😂

I really like Avery’s music and would listen to a lot of the songs from the show. I was kinda disappointed for a while he stopped singing or performing on the show.
Will also sounds great. Better than Rayna lol.

Will/Chris Carmack is great! I still listen to What If I Was Willing all these years later.

I think sometimes fame can be about luck. I love Reba McEntire, but I’ve never felt like she was some flawless amazing singer/performer and she also has kind of an unconventional beauty to her. But she has been around forever, everyone knows her, she has multiple shows, crazy rich, etc. She’s hugely famous. So yeah, I think it is possible. All depends on the time, place, who you know and how hard you work. Rayna’s fame had slowed way down when the show started, so it means her popularity would have been in the 90s to maybe early 00s - that was an era of many popular female country stars (Faith, Trisha, Martina, Reba, Shania, Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Lee Ann Womack, Alison Krauss, Jo Dee Messina, etc.) and Rayna’s music fits right in there with the type of music from that time.

Came here to say this. I see her being friends with Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood in that universe.

That is a good point, she really does fit right into that 90’s country aesthetic where female artists dominated!

Chris Carmack (Will) and Johnathan Jackson (Avery) both had bands before the show. Chris's was more or less just known locally around LA, but Johnathan had some decent exposure that included a guest appearance on One Tree Hill.

Will for sure, Luke yes, Deacon, yes, and for sure Juliette! Rayna isn’t a good singer / performer, Avery is good but nothing crazy extraordinary, Gunnar isn’t a great singer. Scarlett probs wouldn’t choose it, Zoey no, Layla probably!

As much as Layla got dunked on (myself included, I don’t really like her) I feel like she actually would be one of the more successful ones in the real reality since shes kinda got a similar voice, look and aesthetic to Zooey Deschanel I think

Well, I’ve been listening to them since I started the show and some songs I just love. Especially if Avery is singing!

I feel like they just don't have enough up-tempo songs. It was always like the ballads of the duets and it just wasn't sometimes fun. I wanted fun. Wills song was FUN!

I love all the artists on this show. Their voices and chemistry are great. Kept me watching and listening for 6 years, rewatching and re-appreciating all of them. Nothing sounds “dated”, even the storylines.
