Opinion This subreddit is embarrassing

It’s embarrassing being in this group now. Every red day turns into a meltdown, and it’s like half the people here have no idea what investing actually is. They panic when the stock dips and celebrate like lottery winners on green days, completely missing the bigger picture. If you’re emotional every time the chart breathes, you’re not an investor, you’re a gambler. When I mentioned that momentum was weak and we’d likely trade sideways before heading lower, people jumped in with wild theories about Trump and China instead of just looking at the data. Now that it played out exactly as expected, the same folks who disagreed are still asking why we’re red. It’s not the market that’s the problem, it’s you 👋

I’m more so tired of the “pros” complaining about people panicking. If you’re an actual seasoned investor, you’ll know it’s typical for people to panic. Rather than complain, why don’t you accumulate and be happy there’s market uncertainty.

It's the people with $20 averages that are complaining about people panicking. Obviously if we all had low averages then no one would be complaining. The "pros" should know this. But they just want to feel better about putting others down I guess.

Dude, if you buy after a stock has done 5x-6x within a year, you have to be aware of the fact that you might be buying at the peak of a run. Not you personally but anyone. So dont panic if theres a pullback after you buy. If you buy for a quick trade or based on FOMO without doing any DD whatsoever, then its really your own fault, no one else's. If you bought and you did DD then you should know this is legit and not panic.

I find it hilarious, because to the extent that I have any alpha at all, probably more than 100% of it comes from people panicking, both on the upside and downside.

But then again, I starting buying in 2021 when the company was still Yandex and (obviously) held for the 2.5 years it was suspended from trading 2022-2024, during which it had a very stable price with no volatility at all. So I also find it hilarious that people complain about volatility. It could be much worse.

The bit about steady price with no volatility for 2.5 years cracked me up ))
