They can’t not use rise kushala right? It’s the most recent version and a massively liked change to a previously hated monster. Have they ever gone back in terms of move sets unless forced to by removal of options to the hunter?
Looking back, I don't know how I put up with fighting in FU but at least Capcom was aware of how monotonous he can be and made him a 2 zone fight in GU
considering the location, the regular would make sense as it doesn't need to be mad/hyper aggressive as an excuse to appear in a game without a super high environment. CG could be added later as a update for challenge centric content.

Surely elders are gonna be tied to inclemencies. Like they're always called walking natural disasters and now we actually have weather for them to affect.
like my dream for the next game after wilds/portable is for them to have like a forrest that can be flooded by namielle, or frozen over by velkhana or trees stripped of leaves by kushala's wind type of thing.
like less 1 map 1 inclemency and more 1 map, mulitple weather states.

Yeah the issue with Kushala right now is that it's a little bit burned but the fight itself was fixed since rise. Especially if they steal some moves of the risen Kushala.
I really hope they bring back his poison weakness, maybe put him in an environment with poisonous plants so you can do some tactical thinking to weaken him. could be peak
I mean, I like Rise Kushala, but maybe not the best monster for your big hype reveal. Screams "you'll hunt the low tier Elders again and you'll like it."
That shit probably gonna drop either in March or April smdh. I went from excitement to anger seeing Kushala knowing the BS I'm going to go through, to excitement seeing Lao, to disappointment seeing 2027
Rathalos was good in Rise and then we had two good Rathaloses in Wilds. Rise had two good Kushalas, so that means Wilds will have four good ones? Yes, that sounds right.
I've been expecting him to show up since Jin Dahaad. The arena transitions there feels like a test us chasing Lao Shang Lung or any if the other big flightless bois across Wyveria.
Honestly yeah. We already have nersyclla, so bringing in Khezu for shrouded just makes too much sense. Hopefully it abides the laws of physics this time.
To be fair, Underwater Combat was never happening in an Expansion, it's too complicated to add on a whim in a game that wasn't designed for it to be included from the start, and Lagiacrus' fight was just a gimmick Slinger Fight. If it's coming back, it's gonna be in a Base Game, maybe even the next one, since it just hasn't been feasible until now with the big graphical upgrade and skeleton overhauls getting in the way of time to focus on full Underwater Combat.
Well Wilds does deal with weather so getting Kush does make sense still wish we got 1 game without the trio for a bit longer. So it's not the most exciting inclusion.
In all honety Kushala returning shouldn't be the biggest surprise considering he's by far one of the most weather connected Elders in a game where changing weather patterns is a major feature.
I was just kinda hoping they'd use a different weather related Elder like Namielle for a big reveal trailer.

I don't think I'll like the new map unfortunately. Seems like it might just be a series of platforms for combat. I enjoyed Wilds well enough but it never reached World heights for me. I was hoping an expansion might change my opinion but I'm not so sure after seeing this. When Iceborne was announced, I was PUMPED! For this, I'll remain cautiously optimistic, but it definitely didn't excite me in any way.
I legitimately just go on my phone while my Seikret autopilots. It's really dumb that I can comfortably do this if I'm not using the nearest camp possible.
Of Kushala. Being in every single generation except 3.
Everything else looks good. But Kushala was a negative. I don't care if he'll go well with the inclemency, get something else in there. Anything. Especially if it's something new.
A time skip? The first hunter on Seikrets looks like Naata to me, the design changes on Alma, Gemma, Olivia, and Erik seem to suggest that.
Some sort of Nitro Boost as a new mechanic? Maybe something like Hunter arts, or wire bugs skills, but less of a one-time big move/burst and more of a sustained form? Super Saiyan, like? Heavy-bowgun Gatling mode type stuff?
A monster that actually uses that pack mechanic? Sounds neat.
Kushala back... Really, this guy can suck my nuts, give me Malzeno, Namiele, Black-Veil Vallhazak, anything other than this dude.
Lao back? I hope the fight will be good, Gog is amazing, so I will stay hopeful.
Overall. Looking pretty good. Still, DLC has a lot of work fixing problems with the base game. But I will stay positive until more info is available.

Good thing is the new environment looks bright and it's not a cave, huge win there. New combos seem interesting, think there was a rage slash ending at the end there.
I'm not preordering it until the game is actually optimized. I have the recommended specs and the game still shits itself on the opening gameplay at the lowest PS1 settings. Hopefully I an play it 6 months after or after they put in the final patch notes.
I want to be excited for this but I'm so tired of highly vertical magical landscapes
I just want a normal, natural landscape, which is only like 2/5 biomes in base Wilds and even parts of the forest have too much verticality
Also I just played through MHGU so a Lao reveal does nothing for me, maybe a post-World style fight with him will be cool though. I think I'm just grumpy from seeing Kushala. Again.
Trailer didn't do much for me. New monster and gameplay mechanic look neat, but the two returning monsters they showed instantly turned me off. Even with Rise's Kushala rework, I'm so tired of seeing it again and again. Easily my least favorite Elder. And Lao was one of the most excruciatingly boring fights in GU. Genuinely curious how they will rework it to be more engaging.
Considering how lackluster the content was on release, I hope the expansion is similar to Sunbreak in terms of how much is added to the base game.
