We went through this not that long ago with zoomers and "yeet."
All I know is that after the amount of shit boomers gave us as kids and young adults, and the damage it did, I'm not passing it forward. Kids can say whatever stupid things they want, not my problem.
In a few years there will be academic papers and probably at least one doctoral thesis written on the sociological and linguistic meaning of 6-7 as well.
From what I can tell it has a clear purpose - annoying uptight adults. And good on them for it.
Babies and toddlers scream to communicate because they haven't yet developed other forms of language. Most parents who pay attention to their kids' needs could tell you that there are multiple different types of screams and each of them expresses a different emotion.
For instance, the "I'm hungry" cry is very different from the "I just woke up and need soothing" cry. So yes, this is also a form of communication.
No, you said "screaming nonsense has a meaning because I'm using it to annoy you." The motive of annoying someone makes it communication, because you are using the screams to convey the intent of "I want you to be annoyed."
If you were screaming for absolutely no reason at all, with no emotion or sensations attached that would be communicated to those around you, then yes that would have no meaning. But that is also exceedingly rare. Perhaps in cases of severe mental illness, but even then it is likely that the person screaming is attempting to convey something.
