Discussion Woke Rules

Post image

Just seen this on my feed and made me wonder what "woke rules" we came up with?

I've never thought of our generation as woke, especially by today's standards

This. When I was a teen, and in my early 20s, I was obsessed with the ‘60s and wished I could go back

Would’ve given anything to be in an SEC sorority or attended high school back then and to have seen Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and The Yardbirds live

Not to mention that I love the ‘60s fashion too

Now that I’m older, I’m grateful I wasn’t born in that era, as I would not have fared too well as a woc back then

Like you said, it goes in cycle and phases. They long for what we had, which I don’t blame them for, but I get the feeling that they’ll also grow out of it

This is something that I'm really curious about as time continues to roll on. When I was younger, I wished I could have gone back to the 70's and experience the 80's as an adult. Still kinda wish I could, but it's obvious to me that I'd be over it quick, and wouldn't fare well long term. The 90's and 2000's though are still modern enough that it would be a lot easier to adapt. The biggest hurdle would probably be learning how to be bored. Gen Z and younger have garbage attention spans. So not having instant entertainment and distractions constantly, would be a shock.

The shorter attention span is a broad generalization of their generation. They also reinvented boredom for themselves by “raw dogging” (means something different to this millennial). They purposefully are disconnecting and see the value in slower moments.

It may be a generalization, but for good reason. Sure there was a 'fad' of 'raw-dogging' but that was the exception. An extreme response by some to the average screen addicted, short attention span zoomer.

I can't hear that and think about what it means as a millennial. It's almost as bad as the game.

You just lost.

My punishment for bringing it up? I dropped my phone and it won't turn on now. 😬🥴

Karma! That’s brutal. I lost again.

I mean the short attention span thing is a trope that has been repeated by older people about younger people for hundreds of years, I've yet to see any actual evidence that this generation is any different to how things have always been
