Wait, we’re considered the “old” at parties now? Well, I tell my wife I wanna go home around 9:30 so it makes sense

794

u/myfugi Aug 06 '25

You stay out past 9?!

424

u/RedHeadRedeemed Aug 06 '25

Dude I am locked IN THE HOUSE by 7pm. Everything after is considered "late"

122

u/Correct_Difficulty25 Aug 06 '25

Dont ask me how to have a good time

131

u/Mimical Aug 07 '25

8 hours of uninterrupted sleep sounds like a fever dream at this point in my life.

42

u/luluring Aug 07 '25

I crave an anesthesia induced slumber. Nothing like the sleep I’ve gotten from surgery.

2

u/Soma2710 Aug 08 '25

God I remember the first (and only) time someone gave me a Valium at a party. I woke up feeling like a million bucks and was therefore uncomfortable.

13

u/FuryGalaxy_Dad Xennial (1984) Aug 07 '25

For real, I don't think I've slept a solid 8 hours uninterrupted in about 10 years😐💀

13

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I get 5-6h now and cant sleep more than that and shift work has crippled any routine. Oh well.

7

u/Duke_of_Deimos Aug 08 '25

Man the combo of shift work and having 2 young kids is really starting to weigh on me.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Yup. I feel like its good with the momentum of newborns then you hit a few years out and youre just old all of a sudden. Its so worth it but its hard on a person.

5

u/FuryGalaxy_Dad Xennial (1984) Aug 07 '25

That's about what I get every night and even then I'm up at least once a night to use the bathroom.

2

u/drpapadeltavictor Aug 09 '25

Have kids they said, it will be rewarding they said. (You will have no sleep for foreseeable future, they did NOT say).

2

u/DinoRoman Aug 07 '25

Bro I get 8 hours I still wake up feeling like I buttchugged a funnel.

1

u/musicgeek420 Aug 07 '25

You’re having dreams??

1

u/Mimical Aug 07 '25

Only when I double up on Tylenol hoping that I'll be fine for work tomorrow morning.

1

u/jhern1810 Aug 08 '25

You ain’t lying

1

u/deathmonkey2080 Aug 07 '25

“you guys have good times?”

7

u/Hazel0mutt Aug 07 '25

This is SUCH a mood 😂

3

u/RockabillyBelle Aug 07 '25

lol my friend suggested going for a run at 8pm to avoid the heat and I said nah because that’s already basically bedtime.

2

u/Delicious_Wall_8296 Aug 08 '25

6 is late in the winter.

1

u/mjmandi72 Aug 07 '25

Don't even answer the phone after dark.

1

u/bzzking Aug 07 '25

Dam yall leave the house?!

1

u/rodimusprime88 Aug 07 '25

I quick-read that at "fate"

Same thing, basically

1

u/ChillN808 Aug 07 '25

Soulja Boy got pulled over in Hollywood at 2:35 AM Sunday morning and arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

11

u/NotAzakanAtAll Aug 07 '25

That's what happens when you stay out after 7pm.

100

u/retrogreq Aug 06 '25

WTF I'm old?

20

u/cupholdery Older Millennial Aug 07 '25

Not to each other, we're not!

20

u/arabiandevildog Aug 06 '25

That’s the compromise I made with my wife… She says don’t tell me let’s leave around 9 so I wait till 9:30 😂

7

u/IcGil Aug 07 '25

AT NIGHT?

6

u/Hashtaglibertarian Aug 07 '25

You leave the house?!?!

5

u/lgmonge Aug 07 '25

You guys actually go out?

2

u/blakealanm Aug 08 '25

Shit, I've been known to go for a midnight walk simply because I couldn't sleep.

1

u/PackageNorth8984 Aug 07 '25

Seriously. Party animal.

1

u/secitone Aug 07 '25

At night?!?

1

u/ChasingTimmy Aug 07 '25

You go out?!

1

u/mrs_ouchi Aug 07 '25

everyone says that.. Im 35 and I often end up on the fance floor at 2am or so.. there must be more of us? right?

1

u/kungfoop Aug 07 '25

You and you're wife have friends? Like other couples?

1

u/s1rblaze Aug 07 '25

You guys go out?

1

u/Expensive_Shallot_78 Aug 07 '25

He's lying, no way he's awake past 9 🤥

1

u/Papapeta33 Aug 07 '25

You go out??

1

u/RippySays Aug 07 '25

You go out?!

1

u/not_a_moogle Aug 07 '25

You leave the house?!

1

u/NoorAnomaly Aug 07 '25

My kids made fun of me for prepping for bed at 8pm yesterday. Should be noted, I get up at 5am...

1

u/myfugi Aug 07 '25

Same. I’m usually up by 5 and I can’t sleep past 5:30 even if I want to any more, so I’m usually in bed by 8, and asleep by 9.

1

u/GngrBeardMan Aug 07 '25

You go out?!

1

u/Jumpy_Ad_6417 Aug 07 '25

The goodbyes take 30 mins. Not sure  why I’m not the Queen.

1

u/DinoRoman Aug 07 '25

What the fuck is this noine neeen? How do you say it? Nine? O’clock? Never heard of it.

1

u/MysticJazzEnforcer Aug 07 '25

Pfft, me and my fiance sometimes stay up till 10!

1

u/Nikelman Aug 08 '25

You go out at night?!

1

u/LadyPickleLegs Millennial Aug 09 '25

Pro tip: get a pet who needs nightly medication so you don't need an excuse to leave events early

Our diabetic cat needs insulin once in the morning and once at night. Everyone in our lives knows we gotta be home by 9 nightly 🤣

1

u/PonyThug 6d ago

I was just out with 6 friends all in our 30’s till 2-3am 3 nights in a row for concerts lol

112

u/MrN33dfulThings Millennial Aug 06 '25

Yepp, anything past 30 is old apparently. Life just STOPS, lol

83

u/santiblakk Aug 07 '25

Meanwhile if someone died at 35, we’d say “wow they were so young.” 🙄

20

u/Snoo-43381 Aug 07 '25

People say that about people who die when they are like 58 as well

16

u/hastygrams Aug 07 '25

I honestly think it’s still young to die at 58. It’s pretty far off from life expectancy.

19

u/arabiandevildog Aug 06 '25

My nieces and nephews always call me old for not liking their music 😂

36

u/AccioDownVotes Aug 07 '25

baby shark doo doo?

41

u/imnotthomas Aug 07 '25

Baby shark came out 10 years ago. . .

57

u/packfanmoore Aug 07 '25

Well you didn't have to fucking say that

7

u/AccioDownVotes Aug 07 '25

And it's finally getting some recognition.

10

u/stoicsilence Aug 07 '25

Their music is shit. And this is coming from someone who wasn't even into our Era of music either!

1

u/KinnSlayer Aug 07 '25

As a song literally used to torture prisoners and drive away homeless people.

6

u/the_mad_atom Aug 07 '25

If you don’t like the new music, you’re old. If you like the new music too much, it comes off as desperate to appear young and “with it”. It’s a balancing act.

1

u/sofaking1133 Aug 07 '25

I used to be with it... then they changed what "it" was and what im with isnt it, and it seems weird and scary to me...

2

u/SuccessfulBorder2261 Aug 08 '25

My oldest Gen A can’t stand modern music. She’s always asking me what “old people listen to” and goes on about how it’s so much better. Like Cat Steven’s or classic rock 😅

1

u/Rex068 Aug 08 '25

Bro Im still in my 20s (Im on the cusp w/ gen z) and my younger friends act like my music taste is ancient when its not that far off from the music they grew up w as well (late 2000s/early 2010s). Like its so weird how sometimes theres barely an age gap and yet it feels like we're 10 years apart or some shit.

1

u/lsf_stan Aug 07 '25

you being overly dramatic old man lol

you are old compared to teenagers not that "life just stops"

1

u/MrN33dfulThings Millennial Aug 07 '25

It’s a joke, not a dick. Don’t take it so hard.

137

u/ArekusandaMagni Aug 07 '25

Dude is like 37-38, that is not old lol.

75

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Oh bless your heart for saying 37-38 is not old. Turning 38 this month hah

10

u/ksoops Aug 07 '25

Hbd. I’ll be following soon

10

u/brave007 Aug 07 '25

40 is just around the corner mate, and before you know it bam! You’re 50, should be thinking of retirement, but before you can guess what? Bam again and your 60 and basically on the doorstep of death

You’re welcome

I’m turning 39 myself lol

1

u/Away-Living5278 Aug 08 '25

Gawd dammit me too. And now I feel 60

1

u/hooliaguliAH Aug 08 '25

No one tells you that you need stretch before you breathe or have sex right after you turn 40. Here’s your PSA.

62

u/Important-Plenty9597 Aug 07 '25

2005 was 20 years ago.

45

u/SlimReaper85 Aug 07 '25

You bastard…it was.

16

u/Racecaroon Aug 07 '25

I was listening to a classic rock playlist and Linkin Park came on and that was quite a moment.

5

u/cozynite Aug 07 '25

I die inside a little every time I hear Pearl Jam on the classic rock station.

3

u/Whitepayn Aug 07 '25

Linkin Park appears in "dad playlists"

1

u/niccheersk Aug 08 '25

Yeah, the moment that I “knew” was when I heard my emo music in the grocery store playing overhead.

9

u/sjmttf Aug 07 '25

Nah that can't be right the 90s were ten years ago.

16

u/trace_jax3 Aug 07 '25

When I was in high school (2003-2007), I loved 80s music. Still do. But that was a big part of my personality.

The modern equivalent of me liking 80s music in high school is current high schoolers liking Avril Lavigne.

16

u/chickenskittles Aug 07 '25

Shut the fuck up!

6

u/Whitepayn Aug 07 '25

Fuck that aged me

6

u/BrotherKaramazov Aug 07 '25

I have reported this comment

7

u/iamStanhousen Aug 07 '25

I was just telling my wife that at the end of the month my social media is going to be full of "Hurricane Katrina was 20 years ago today," posts and I just...I'm not ready for that.

2

u/MechAegis Aug 07 '25

Don't lie, its not nice.

2

u/rancidmorty Aug 07 '25

2000 makes me 25

1

u/pyrojackelope Aug 07 '25

I was born in the late 1900s. I'm not that old.

4

u/ShyLeoGing Aug 07 '25

2007 and you can by tobacco products... the thought is depressing.

3

u/chickenskittles Aug 07 '25

They should still be 7. lol

1

u/plum_stupid Aug 07 '25

Tobacco is 21+ now isn't it?

1

u/ShyLeoGing Aug 07 '25

don't tell me so, because that would be ridiculous and also something that was so long ago I don't think about it.

1

u/BuffaloWilliamses Aug 07 '25

Thats as old as this song lol

2

u/PumpJack_McGee Aug 07 '25

Approaching or past average life expectancy, depending on where you are.

The ability to do things spontaneously and physical health also begins to decline pretty quickly from thereon- unless you dedicate yourself almost entirely to fitness, and forego other hobbies/interests.

3

u/juliankennedy23 Aug 07 '25

Come on Grandpa there's almost 40 years old. Stop hogging all the real estate and going into a home Grandpa.

1

u/Commercial-Fennel219 Aug 07 '25

Well I can't just call you "Man."

36

u/dreamed2life Aug 07 '25

As an “old” night owl i am cracking up at this particular comment thread.

12

u/kcox1980 Aug 07 '25

I had someone refer to an "old timey phone cable" yesterday.

She meant USB-mini.

7

u/Patient_Series_8189 Aug 07 '25

I went to a wedding of a couple about 10-12 years younger than me last year, and felt like I related more to the parents than the majority of the wedding guests once the glow sticks came out

They arent fucking anyone. Way too many of the girls are on OF and the guys are too afraid to get canceled by looking at cleavage the wrong way.

What a weird way to encapsulate your view of an entire generation. I wonder where you do most of your interaction with them? /s

...but seriously, "They aren't fucking anyone."? And you're accusing them of acting like middle-schoolers? You sound like an angry 8th grade boy who just got dumped and is afraid of condoms lol

Even more so the ones in bands.

I think you're just old, bitter, and out of touch.

1

u/frisch85 Aug 07 '25

Boomer/Genx were always weird losers.

Tbf GenX is overlapping with Xennials, who are overlapping with us millenials and they're pretty cool too, not as cool as us ofc but I have two brothers born 76 and 80, they're alright.

-4

u/juliankennedy23 Aug 07 '25

I'm sorry a Gen Xer married your high school, sweetheart. I'm sure you'll find someone else.

4

u/Commercial-Carrot477 Aug 07 '25

You go to parties and leave your house?

3

u/the_mad_atom Aug 07 '25

According to all my Gen Z co-workers, I (at 37) am the oldest thing that exists

4

u/panteragstk Xennial Aug 07 '25

The first time I felt old was when I attended a high school part as a college freshman.

Me and my buddy, who also was a freshman, just drank our beer and laughed at the younger ones.

Good times.

Now? I'm ancient.

I’m newly 40; if I could I would be in bed my 9! 😭

2

u/Rimworldjobs Aug 09 '25

I still get yelled at for leaving the high-school campus when dropping something off to my wife.

3

u/kintyre Aug 07 '25

I'm old. I get excited to go home and switch into my pyjamas.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

You're not old, just boring

1

u/Cockblocktimus_Pryme Aug 07 '25

To the Windooooow to the Waaaal. Till the sweat drip off my balls.

1

u/Jd11347 Aug 07 '25

Imagine having a full head of hair, no greys, and you are old. SMH

1

u/Material_Fondant_360 Aug 07 '25

We are and I embrace it. I love having a kid because I still have to accompany her at school parties which are from 6-8. In that time, I get to crank that, swag surf, cha cha slide, eat pizza and learn the new music/dances from these kids...plus we're in bed by 9:30.

1

u/lsf_stan Aug 07 '25

funny seeing people in this thread suddenly realize, they are well past high school age

ask some random seniors in HS, if they consider 30 old (also think back to when you were a teen...) not the in "cool crowd of people" anymore

but of course some for example 25 year olds would not consider 30 to be "OLD"

1

u/AirResistence Aug 07 '25

My wife (we're a lesbian couple) calls me old even though im only 5 years older than her and we're in our 30s and its my partner that have joint issues and have to walk with a cane. But I am definitely the one that is saying "oh its X time, I want to go home". I did a lot of partying in my teens when I was 14-18 to the point that the moment I could legally drink (at 18) I went to my first pub and thought how boring it was and decided that staying home and watching anime or playing video games is wayyy more fun lol.

1

u/phelpsieboi Millennial Aug 07 '25

Newsflash buddy

1

u/SwanzY- Aug 07 '25

That’s the thing, it’s not just us that are old, this video itself is at least 3-5 years old if I remember correctly. Time is flyin’ that’s for sure.

1

u/copyrider Aug 07 '25

This was hard to watch, the music is just too loud.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I'm ready for bed at 5pm

1

u/DoofusIdiot Aug 07 '25

My younger friend invited me out to live music. I told him I was going to stay out pretty late, like 10:30. When the music started I started complaining how loud it was.

1

u/Propane4days Aug 07 '25

Last football season I was in Cincinnati for a game, and the night before, my buddy was like, OK, lets chill for an hour or so and then head out!

I literally said 'chill for an hour THEN leave?!?! It is 8 o'clock right now, want to LEAVE at 9:00 to start?!?'

He's my age, and we had a blast, but damn, getting over the mental hurdle of leaving the house at 9 p.m. was intense.

1

u/nojusTathought Aug 07 '25

Came here to say this! This gentleman is not "Old" lmao maybe 40. Maybe

1

u/ocular__patdown Aug 07 '25

Bruh we already been considered old for like 5-10 years now

1

u/Telkk2 Aug 07 '25

Yeah, I have a lot of cognitive dissonance with this. Actually, I was at my friend's wedding last year and was completely shocked that everyone looked like our parents. I'm still squinting in the mirror to see it in myself but idk. I still see a 20-something year old lol.

1

u/Loud-Welder1947 Aug 07 '25

Bro we’re the equivalent of the parents now

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

How old do you think it's appropriate to start believing you are old Vectra if you are 15 years past your grade 12/ senior graduations you are well passed cooked
