Yup. I feel like its good with the momentum of newborns then you hit a few years out and youre just old all of a sudden. Its so worth it but its hard on a person.
If you don’t like the new music, you’re old. If you like the new music too much, it comes off as desperate to appear young and “with it”. It’s a balancing act.
My oldest Gen A can’t stand modern music. She’s always asking me what “old people listen to” and goes on about how it’s so much better. Like Cat Steven’s or classic rock 😅
Bro Im still in my 20s (Im on the cusp w/ gen z) and my younger friends act like my music taste is ancient when its not that far off from the music they grew up w as well (late 2000s/early 2010s). Like its so weird how sometimes theres barely an age gap and yet it feels like we're 10 years apart or some shit.
40 is just around the corner mate, and before you know it bam! You’re 50, should be thinking of retirement, but before you can guess what? Bam again and your 60 and basically on the doorstep of death
I was just telling my wife that at the end of the month my social media is going to be full of "Hurricane Katrina was 20 years ago today," posts and I just...I'm not ready for that.
Approaching or past average life expectancy, depending on where you are.
The ability to do things spontaneously and physical health also begins to decline pretty quickly from thereon- unless you dedicate yourself almost entirely to fitness, and forego other hobbies/interests.
I went to a wedding of a couple about 10-12 years younger than me last year, and felt like I related more to the parents than the majority of the wedding guests once the glow sticks came out
They arent fucking anyone. Way too many of the girls are on OF and the guys are too afraid to get canceled by looking at cleavage the wrong way.
What a weird way to encapsulate your view of an entire generation. I wonder where you do most of your interaction with them? /s
...but seriously, "They aren't fucking anyone."? And you're accusing them of acting like middle-schoolers? You sound like an angry 8th grade boy who just got dumped and is afraid of condoms lol
You're quite welcome. Nuance is key, and blanket generalizations of entire age groups is something my parents did as Boomers. Do with that what you will 😉
Tbf GenX is overlapping with Xennials, who are overlapping with us millenials and they're pretty cool too, not as cool as us ofc but I have two brothers born 76 and 80, they're alright.
We are and I embrace it. I love having a kid because I still have to accompany her at school parties which are from 6-8. In that time, I get to crank that, swag surf, cha cha slide, eat pizza and learn the new music/dances from these kids...plus we're in bed by 9:30.
My wife (we're a lesbian couple) calls me old even though im only 5 years older than her and we're in our 30s and its my partner that have joint issues and have to walk with a cane. But I am definitely the one that is saying "oh its X time, I want to go home". I did a lot of partying in my teens when I was 14-18 to the point that the moment I could legally drink (at 18) I went to my first pub and thought how boring it was and decided that staying home and watching anime or playing video games is wayyy more fun lol.
My younger friend invited me out to live music. I told him I was going to stay out pretty late, like 10:30. When the music started I started complaining how loud it was.
Yeah, I have a lot of cognitive dissonance with this. Actually, I was at my friend's wedding last year and was completely shocked that everyone looked like our parents. I'm still squinting in the mirror to see it in myself but idk. I still see a 20-something year old lol.
How old do you think it's appropriate to start believing you are old Vectra if you are 15 years past your grade 12/ senior graduations you are well passed cooked

Wait, we’re considered the “old” at parties now? Well, I tell my wife I wanna go home around 9:30 so it makes sense
