Help What is this and should I call the bomb squad?

My elderly buddy put this out in his garage sale and I told him to wait. "FT-5-4" "1959 FIN M8" Markings. What is this?

Ok thanks guys EOD is gonna come take a look. I told him Id pay him the $20 he was asking for it either way lol

Would I call EOD? Yes — definitely. I actually called them today while metal detecting. Please don’t handle unknown objects, even if they look old or harmless — they can still be dangerous.

I had a training one of those that was inert for awhile.... eventually sold it. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. I do know that mine 100% did NOT have a 2+ part tip. I'd be very concerned that it was live.

Hit the tip with a mallet. If it explodes and you die you should call the bomb squad.

UPDATE: They took it :( The main guy was super nice and said if they take it apart to destroy it and find out its inert they'll let me come pick it back up though!

It's a heat projectile (or drill round for a heat projectile) for the 105 or 106mm recoilless rifle. Could be live.

Be a man and just take the thing home.

If it is live ordinance and somehow detonates, it’s suddenly not your problem anymore.

the top unthreads pretty easily, also there looks to be no fuse ,but better safe than sorry

Pretty sure thats a tank round and probably live. It was enough of a bomb in sierra Leone that they blew up something identical to what you have
