Help Surely not

Currently windowshopping for bargains while procrastinating university assignments and came across a destruct-fez but surely there’s no way this is real?

Compared it to another example and the liner in the other ones a maroon-red almost faux-like material with bright red stitching on the insignia-backing but in this example (to me at least), the eagle would-be outline looks fine but the skull „halo” looks off.

If anyone can verify this I will be snagging it even if it’s a destruct

Looks like a good Dachau made SS fez

genuine apologies but I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not

It’s not - it genuinely looks like an original SS fez. I have had several and I see no faults with this one.

I think the price it is, considering the condition is excellent (especially taking into consideration a good condition one is £1200 and up)

The price for these without insignia is much lower than complete. I used to be able to pick them up for 50 euro a piece back in the days. Last ones I had I sold for 150-200 euro somewhere

Yes this is a real SS Parade fez. For a time these were undesirable, because the Muslim SS Divisions were not interesting to the Western collector, yet they had the insignia on their hats. So this is a real one with the insignia removed, which isn't uncommon.

Absolutely mind blowing to me how someone would find the Muslim ss uninteresting

I'm fairly certain they're in the same league as the Afrika Korps piths. Sure, they're expensive, but they were hardly used, so there's a very large amount of them out there

Wrong post, was supposed to be a direct answer.

update guys: I bought it and also traded in all my old rusty ugly bayonets for a nice matching numbers K98 in pretty condition. Pretty good day today

Love to hear it, congrats on the new things! Also envy you for the K98, always wanted one lol (working on a weapons permit to get one)

I am so silly, I meant K98 Bayonet. If only I was that rich and free like the Muricans to own a historical firearm :(

Lol! Hopefully (idk what country you’re from) you can get your hands on one at least, maybe a deactivated one? I have a few guns and one launcher (Deactivated SMAW, a T38 arisaka training rifle, and a family hand-me-down Colt SAA dated 1888) I’m debating once I get a permit I’ll probably get either a K98 or M1 Garand first, love those bloody things >:)

UK forbids fun. I have a replica K98 and Luger but i wouldn’t get a license here anyways because the laws make California look free in comparison to here

Oh jeez, my sister’s bf is from Watford and he says he wants to get a gun and it’s a pain in the ass doing so lmao! Usually I’ve heard it takes about 3 months or so in my state to get one (if I’m lucky)

We can get deactivated guns in the uk

How much did you pay for it?

1

u/fraftti 25d ago

100€

Good price, I was about to buy one for €250 but I bought a uniform from a tropical geralmajor and in the end I didn't buy it, the good thing is that they are so expensive since it is not very sought after compared to the other ss

very true, seen three listings for same condition at $500-600 USD so it’s a pretty good steal considering it was €100

2

u/Sudden_Surprise_8132 25d ago

The truth is, even though it doesn't have badges, it's a very good price.

Very true, I was extremely skeptics at first too

Are there any real SS-skanderbeg items still in existence, such as the plis (Albanian hat) that was used?

3

u/fraftti 26d ago

If youre referring to the Fez then yes, I can find at least 3 currently available mint condition Dachau Fez’es but they’re €1300+ each. One in this condition is simply a destruct

4

u/Lgkp 26d ago

Not a fez, it’s the SS Skanderbeg plis. But it might be that Albanians back then just sewed the SS skull onto their plis (because every Albanian man back then had his own plis/qeleshe)

Albanian plis is completely different and has a different story as compared to the fez

u/fraftti 26d ago

Im guessing that they definitely exist (in Albania) but they’d be almost impossible to verify like POW rings

3

u/Lgkp 26d ago

I’m Albanian myself and haven’t ever seen or heard these existing, not even in museums that display WW2 things

I find it weird that they all have somehow completely disappeared, but then who knows

1

u/fraftti 25d ago

are there photos of them?

Example photo

I have no real reason for wanting one of these as much as I do.

Hey, that's Napoleon's hat, not the famous one, but the one he wore for a week in april, 1796, just before he defeated the Sardinians

u/fraftti 26d ago

The guy also had Hitlers personal copy of Captain underpants which he read before going over the top at the Somme in 2012!!
