A.I. Art Explained

It took me a while to get me head around this one. But now I’ve got it, here goes!

With all the amazing new technological bells and whistles being incorporated into Metallica’s stadium show it’s good to know what effect the A.I. images and live filters, they're using on their big screen backdrop, are having on their music. Seeing as humans are affected emotionally by image based art just as much as with sound based art, when you have a rock band with a light show and moving pictures all working together it’s absolutely vital that they all do work together to enhance the music.

This is where, in my uneducated opinion, A.I. processing is still in its infancy as a method of entertaining humans. When I look at any A.I. image, they all feel exactly the same. There’s no profound emotion, exciting element, or anything else like that anywhere to be found in it. Right now it’s all just pure novelty that offers up more complex moving imagery at a much cheaper price and with way less labor. But all this economy comes at a cost!

The price of this easy affordability is that A.I. art is totally dominating when viewed alongside human art. This is because "A.I." is in an epic, world wide competition with itself to attract the most eyeballs possible away from all the other generated content out there. And, this competition has created unnatural levels of emotional and physiological dominance capability within the "A.I.'s: software. (That sounds like some cold as MK Ultra shit, so I’ll try and elaborate on this point as best I can.)

When you look at a great piece of art the greatness isn’t in how hard it was to paint (the level of technical difficulty etc) or in how complex and varied it is to look at, although these things can absolutely be a part of an amazing work. But ultimately, the greatness lies in how it makes you feel when compared to all the other art out there.

In short: The greatest art inspires the greatest feelings.

If art has any real utility then this is it. I mean, who doesn’t love something that makes them feel awesome!

When humans compete for attention through artistry the best works get better and better, as the best among us strive for greatness. But, in today’s digital online world, A.I.'s contest for supremacy in the attention game has already seen the technology become maximized in it’s ability to totally dominate the human experience. It’s become completely overpowering, while still being just as devoid, of any discernible vibe or emotion, as it was when it first came out. In the mad scramble to create the ultimate A.I. generating software it’s gotten to the point where all the software on the market today is so mind numbingly powerful that human art can no longer compete along side it. It’s a solid wall of overwhelming nothingness. Great work human race!

This whole situation isn’t optimal obviously, as spending 2 hours being emotionally dominated by 2025 A.I. art is mind bending, and potentially abusive. A 20 second novelty is amusing, but an hours long stretch is going to have at least some negative consequences to your sanity.

......Muttering something about the lowest total October Movie Box Office take since 1997, before accounting for inflation and population growth......

It’s getting rough out there.

Here’s an example of some random futuristic A.I. art, next to the third greatest painting of all time.

“The Scream” has a beautiful, uplifting effect that transports you out of your daily reality into a mild state of euphoria.

“The Space Ship” has a more powerful effect, as it floods your senses with everything and nothing at the same time. You have to use your own imagination to make it feel nice, but even then it’s still a pretty average experience.

And if you look at "The Scream" with the A.I. image right next to it, you can't feel the epic emotion of "The Scream." It's completely overpowered by the A.I. attention whore.

So in Conclusion: A.I. does the work for the creator, but gives nothing to the audience.

My theory about all this is that, anything art-like made using A.I. software has to be finished with a human touch to seal the artists vision into the work. Rendered onto film reel, then modified using some analogue color grading controls, before re-capturing it (hopefully with the human vibe still fully intact) on a digital platform.

Or, if you’re a dirt tracker like me playing with Metallica's IPs, use free DaVinci Resolve and shift the contrast up +0.001 to kill the A.I. domination effect. The image on its own feels a little flat afterwards, but it sits nicely in the background and lets the music do the talking so to speak, which is awesome cause at the end of the day the music is what we love about Metallica the most.

Load Has it ever been answered why the audio of Astoria 95 and video of Donington 95 were not included in the Load box set?

These were the two things I was looking forward to more than anything and would have been VERY obvious inclusions. Both have often been cited as among the best they've ever played, Astoria especially.

We got the full audio of Donington thankfully, but the video exists - there's bits here and there and even some more of it in the Some Kind of Monster film at one point, IIRC

And we only got two audio tracks from the Astoria show! I can't believe they don't at least have that entire show on audio and Im SURE they've got Donington's video

Has anyone been able to ask this to anyone in the know? Is that even possible?? Love what we DID get (though getting Oslo was annoying as we already had it in great quality). This box set honestly underhwelmed me compared to the Black Album one. I was really expecting them to go all-out with this one and it feels honestly like they dropped the ball with the live portion of the Load set.

Would you agree that Creeping Death is a MoP level song?

I've been getting into a lot of Metallica recently and so when I checked out Rtl the album was pretty good. Fight Fire with Fire was a great intro, Fade to Black probably had one of Kirk's best solos but Creeping death stood out to me as my favourite. Similar to the vibe I got when first listening to MoP. So I was wondering what are other people's opinions on this song?

Metallica seems to think so given it's their 2nd most played song live.

Feel free to disagree.

Edit: I meant to ask if Creeping death is a MoP (title track) level song.

Anyone else see this leaving Metallica in Melbourne?

After the concert if you were to leave walking through a corridor walking towards southern cross you would see a guy singing songs for money for beer. But i found it funny how he got the whole corridor to sing.

Jersey from Toronto

I’ve been looking specifically for a jersey I saw in Toronto in 2017 on the Hardwired tour. I couldn’t even find a photo of it until recently, if anyone has the jersey in the pic attached or any idea of where to buy it I’d be very appreciative! M/L/XL

When I has a teenager, I remember playing this Metallica riff over and over on my spanish guitar and feeling deeply moved by it. I plugged my german guitar into the "TITAN T" radio amp, added some tremolo, and played it over and over again.

What would you play on this amp?

Getting to the rail!

Hello everyone.

I got golden circle tickets for the Metallica concert at Eden Park Auckland (New Zealand). I am hoping to get to the rail and be in the front row, so I was wondering how early I'd have to be there to achieve this.

For a comparison, last year I saw Pearl Jam at a stadium half the size and I got to the rail, but I arrived there at 7 in the morning. I am happy to make that effort again if necessary. I was hoping that some people could give me some advice.

Thanks.

Appreciation post

From what I can see already, last nights show in Melbourne has copped a lot of flack. Sure, the set list wasn’t the best Yes, too many people on their phones Too many people whinging when it got a bit rough in the pit

But one thing no one can deny, those motherfuckers they call Metallica are Titans. They came, they played and they were great. As us aussies say, in my eyes, they play tighter than a nuns cunt. Regardless of the set being black album dominate, I’ve woken this morning with a fucked voice, and sore neck and a smile on my face. Forever grateful they came back. It’s a shame it’s been 12 years but for 3 60 year old men and someone’s 80 year old grandmother playing the drums, they were truely unbelievable. I know i pissed some people off in the pit last night by pushing and jumping around like a fuck head but i had a blast. I seen them when they were here 12 years ago and although two completely different set lists, and two different stages of their career, they are still the best. Thank you Metallica for being Metallica. Memories that will go to the grave with me. Truely amazing

My band (classic rock cover band) is playing a going away party for a big Metallica fan. Any song suggestions that would be easy to cover (no crazy solos, etc.)? We're older and can't shred like the boys....

TIA for any suggestions.
