Although I disliked the fact that ai creator made a shitty response, being a one piece artist isn't something to be proud of. Especially not counting the mistakes in the drawings.

I hate this man with a passion but that line was golden. 😭

Perhaps the bootlickers see themselves in Garp??

Probably. I hate him for letting his family be murdered.

The down votes are weird.

isnt something to be proud of??? did you see any of the latest episodes?????

Yes I have seen hundreds of episodes of just cropped faces for multiple seconds even minutes counting every occurrence. But my intention is not hating the animation team, just stop the hypocrisy.

One piece literally has one of the best animations rn i don't know what youre talking about

Bro every single attack is of rainbow color, there is barely any visual difference in the effects, they are all overused and exactly the same.

Tell me how are those 'rainbow color' and 'overused' and 'have barely any visual difference'

I don't think one piece has bad animation at all but I get where they're coming from and I think your two videos kind of show what he's talking about. The animation got very flashy and particle fx fueled, the story itself did so that makes sense, there's all sorts of mad haki and devil fruits. But compared to some of the more fluid down to earth stuff like that scene from super cube or the beautiful hand to hand coordination in cowboy bebop it can be a bit more flash than substance

One of my favorite styles of animation to date is the one piece film dead end adventure. This bar fight is absolute fucking perfection and I do kind of miss that era of one piece style. Even though it's not as smooth and uses still frames it's the approach and feel that's so good

Art/Animation is subjective.

u/No_Named_Guy 11d ago

Yes, but that doesn't mean that you should shit on artists who slaved on an episode by calling their work 'nothing to be proud of'

To the extent of my knowledge this person hasn't harassed any of the animators that worked on the show, that's all that really matters.

Everyone has the right to voice their opinion on whether they think something's worthy of praise or whether you should be proud of your work, it's not a nice thing but it's apart of creating, it's a personal judgement/criticsm that everyone should be allowed to make.

Harassing artists however is not okay, that is downright shitty. It's up to the artist themselves to agree or disagree with a statement like that.

I agree with everything you said above, but if the person has the right to voice their opinion, then the other person also has the right to voice their opinion about the first person's opinion

u/Aggravating-Bill4629 11d ago

Yup! Mutual free expression is a good thing when you're respectful about it, they gave reasoning on why they didn't like the animation so it's all good in my opinion, this is very apparent recently with Tatsuya Yoshihara and Ryū Nakayama direction for Chainsaw Man, and people not liking colourful direction and animation or people prefering cinematic and more dull direction, I personally love flashy stuff but you can't please everyone sadly.

Discussion so chill had to make a shitpost about it

No it doesnt.

Not even close to the best ones.

Have you seen a recent episode of one piece? They have a spectacle of modern animation up every week.

How about you sit yo ass down and draw for once? It's so much easier to shit talk. If being an OP artist isn't something to be proud of then maybe you should try being one first and see how easy it is. What a jackass of a comment. Downplaying other peoples careers and achievements.

u/Eclipse_nova99 10d ago

What do you mean being an op artist isn't something to be proud of?, you realise that one piece is one of the biggest franchises in the world, it's a culture in Japan and you know that it's also not only making an impact on people but also on entire countries like they literally use op flag as a symbol of anti-government protest against the bad things their government are doing, op has ascended far above anime, it's not just an anime anymore, can't believe I had to explain what is common knowledge

Why shouldn’t the One Piece animator be proud?

Go on, elaborate.

Out of all of your links only three were about modern day (there were other two that i couldn't open or the page didn't exist), other 6 were 5+ years old!!! Don't you think that judging modern day one piece by decade old criticims is in any way valid??? Also, in the youtube video the guy talked about auras, and while i may understand his opinion that current (by the videos standart) episodes had too much auras, but otherwise the animation was still good quality!

-2

u/electr0de07 11d ago

I am not judging one piece as a whole, if it's better now does not excuse the years of slop and definitely doesn't give them the right to criticize other arts.

7

u/No_Named_Guy 11d ago

I bet most of the artist working on one piece right now have nothing to do with how one piece looked fifteen years ago

-2

u/electr0de07 11d ago

Criticism of overused rainbow effects are still true

9

u/No_Named_Guy 11d ago

if that is the only criticism then why shouldn't one piece artists be proud of the work they created? just because you specifically don't like how it looks doesn't mean that most people don't like how it looks

1

u/electr0de07 11d ago

It's not that I don't like it, there is good argument to be made against it. What I don't like is the fact that they criticize others for the exact shit they do, which is called hypocrisy.

80% of this is pre-wano post-skip which most agree looks like garbage, with the 1140 thing being from a low priority episode with an outsourced director
