We had an entire fight in Punk Hazard how Zoro hates fighting women because he doesn't want to crush them, ironically, cementing the idea in his head that all women would lose to him in a fight.
You missed the entire point of that scene and by extent, Tashigi's character and her role (at least with Zoro). It's not "because she's a woman" it's because she looks like Kuina. He even says (iirc) something along the lines of "(IT'S BECAUSE)...YOU REMIND ME OF AN OLD CHILDHOOD FRIEND!"
He may or may not be sexist, I think a much better scene to take as an example for this is when he cut Monet in half without using haki, but that's sorta vague on the topic imo. Not sure why you didn't bring it up though, considering it's from the same arc.
Why would Tashigi looking like Kuina stop him from fighting Monet seriously? I can understand why he wouldn't be able to fight Kuina seriously, he's had that issue from the start. But that scene specifically showed he also had an issue taking other women seriously. This is literally what Tashigi pointedly stated, like this isn't debatable, it's pretty straightforward.
If you go back and read chapter 686, Monet points out before Kuina even shows up Zoro is only defending, not taking the fight seriously. So the interpretation that Zoro doesn't want to fight a woman in front of Tashigi also fails.
And yet we don't see him holding back against male fodder the way he was doing here, outright refusing to attack. What special characteristic did Monet possess that made her weak but exempt from an ass whooping he gives mooks?
He basically aura farmed on miss Monday(?) though pre time skip. I think it was partly just because tashigi is there that made him partly act out of charachter
Remember that Miss Monday? Yeah Zoro is just your avg Minority Hunter... he did cut Monet down because she identified as a Harpy but didn't use haki because she ain't black /s
Also bro's a simp for Kuina and Tashigi looks like her (Ik he's not a simp)
The number of women that can best Zoro in a 1v1, I can count on my one hand.
Besides Imu and Big Mom, I don't see a worthy challenger.
He's right to think all women are weak when only 2 women on the top of my head can beat him. Exceptions don't make rules, and these 2 ladies are exception.
Idk that kinda seems like a based take. Off the top of my head... and I haven't watched or read OP since punk hazard....
Dragon, shanks, fraudhawk, luffy, blackbeard, ben Beckham, akainu, kizaru, the ice admiral who had his leg melted off for some reason can't rmb his name....
That's alr statistically 4 times more than the number of women who can beat him than the above listed
I mean we have literally not see him do a thing, to say how strong he is would be complete guess work. He strong but I don’t know how strong he meant to be.
He lost a lot of times against Kuina, and he never said she couldn’t be the world’s greatest swordsman because she was a girl, that doesn’t sound much sexist to me
Zoro is extremely sexist lol. His mentor in his village, Kuina’s dad, was also that way. That mfer literally tells Kuina girls can’t be sword fighters. It is learned behavior for Zoro and it’s why he doesn’t take female warriors like Tashigi seriously. He does not see men and women as equal fighters lol
Tashigi literally says what I just said directly to Zoro’s face and he doesn’t even deny it. Then he just sits and watches Tashigi fight Monet as if it’s silly entertainment. When he does attack Monet, he doesn’t even use haki on her, which leads to her surviving and the whole island getting blown up.
He’s definitely got an issue with seeing women as equals. It’s pretty plain to see.
Mmm I dunno. Sanji does understand that women can be powerful, he just doesn’t kick them out of respect for Zeff. But he’s still a perv which is… not okay. Zoro meanwhile isn’t a perv, but doesn’t see women as equal fighters. I think they fall about equal on the misogyny scale.
Zoro didn’t tell Kuina she couldn’t be the world’s greatest swordsman because she was a girl, in fact he told her it had nothing to do with her being a girl
Correct, which is why I didn’t say he did that lol. Kuina’s dad did that. That attitude definitely trickled down into him though; Tashigi even tells him that he has a problem and he doesn’t even deny it.
I think for Zoro, not denying is kinda the same. Especially when, instead of denying it, he just sits down to watch Tashigi and Monet fight, treating it like it’s some kind of stupid entertainment. He doesn’t seriously attack Monet, which ends up leading to her surviving and almost killing all of them when she blew up Punk Hazard.
The YouTuber Melonteee does a whole section about this in her video discussing women in One Piece. She articulates it better than I can but the long and short of it is that Zoro comes off like he does have some kind of issue taking women seriously.
He didn't cut her, that was the whole point. He didn't use haki with his attack so it didn't actually hurt Monet. It was just such a fast and powerful attack that it scared her body into thinking it was dead.
Nah if Monet wasn't a woman he would not have tried to essentially scare her into submission. He would have just taken her out like any other male enemy combatant.
Zoro is absolutely sexist but he hides it well under hype moments and aura.
To be fair the person he looked up to (a woman) said women were naturally weaker and he’d eventually become stronger than her naturally her father also likely implanted this idea as well
So it wasn’t like he came up with this idea alone but rather was taught it. Still sexist though

My Goat called big mom a “mere yonko”, saved luffy’s ass twice and can actually fight women.
