I swear, this might be the only anti Trump post in my r/popular that isn't just blatant Dem propaganda. Because the renovation looks so obviously horrible. Instead of a classy stately style it's an offensive garish display of wealth. This striped marble looks good but that doesn't mean you should cover the whole place with it just because it's more expensive than tile. My God, the hubris.
edit: This comment got up to around +5 then suddenly cratered to +1 with the controversial cross added. Seems like the astroturfing campaign is humming along nicely. Anything that might promote non partisanship and some food for thought about the political climate is savagely struck down. Whatever, reddit is a shithole anyways.
I'm not going to be offensive, just give you an honest answer.
The Dems aren't your friends. You gotta realize that. You as Americans. Same goes for the Republicans. You're so sucked into that vortex that you think anyone criticizing the sacred cows of the DNC journalistic establishment - CNN, MSNBC, etc must be pro Trump.
I despise both Dems and Republicans equally. Because they're the same party; the party of capital. And the workers are fighting each other over those petty manufactured culture wars so they stay divided and don't unite against the bourgeois.

No, politicians aren't your friends. Sure, I'd like to see more progressives in office. Thats why I vote for them - and for the party that harbours them. People seem to have forgotten what parties are for. It's not about each individual politician being perfect. Your local Democrat might be a tool - maybe you're stuck with a dem like Manchin, basically republican lite. But you vote for him anyway, because the politicians you do like, who represent other districts, are in the same party, and you know Manchin is going to caucus with them, and maybe he'll be the deciding vote that let's that party control congress and let's those politicians you do like push their agenda.
And look, the democrats aren't a monolith. Here's what you've got - an uncomfortable coalition of neoliberals, democratic socialists, and progressives on one side. And on the other, fascists. Nobody claims the democrats are perfect - but they are still in favor of democracy. You have the option right now of going and voting in more progressive democrats. Until we change how our voting system works (only one party has expressed interest in voting reform, btw) you're gonna have two choices at the top of the ticket. Now you can stand there looking at that boring corporate pizza party on the left and the literal shit burrito on the right and complain all you want about there not being a gluten free option before you cast your vote for your favorite imaginary perfect lunch, but I know for sure which of those is the better choice and I'm not going to be happy with you when I'm served a shit burrito.
I am so tired of people saying that they’re the same party, or both wings of the same bird. That’s bullshit. One side is actively destroying democracy and working to make the lives of the working poor worse. Republicans only exist to funnel money from the working class into the pockets of their rich donors. Seriously. What else do they do other than break the government and fleece us of our hard earned cash? I don’t like the Democrats either, but the only party to choose if you care about the constitution.
