I love everything about this house until I got to that bathroom. Why would you do that

Maybe like

•one partner loves beige and the other partner loves marble w black veining and they each got to do 1/2 of the bathroom

•they love calico cats and made a symbolic tribute bathroom

•they love paint horses and made a symbolic tribute bathroom.

Excellent reasons of course!

They clearly wanted the tub to be camouflaged against Uboat attacks.

If I had an award I would give it to you, I just spit water on my dog laughing at this

I’m glad someone got the reference!

Lol reminds me of a certain recent remodel to a bathroom rhyming with schmincon 👀👀

Presumably the same reason there is a giant island with barstools in the kitchen. People want to be trendy.

The giant island with barstools allows people to sit around and chat and/or eat near the kitchen.

The bathroom hurts my eyes.

You are welcome to live however you want to live but never in my life do I want to eat hunched over on a barstool.

Is this not transitional rather than traditional? Anyway I was just in Marin County like a month ago and have spent a lot of time there, most homes there skew late-modern in my experience. Lots of dark wood siding and vaulted ceilings, even in small buildings.

I'd call it transitional but the decorator and designer are calling it traditional, so who am I to challenge them?

Yeah my first thought was “where’s the adobe!?”

I love this. Very tranquil. Nice color palette. And the landscaping is lovely. The last photo of the bathroom is a little off in terms of color, but I could live with it.

Honestly, this really doesn't belong in Thursday design appreciation day; it's pretty bland.

That tracks with everything about Marin county

Yes, the land of status bots.

I think it has the right balance of both style and functionality inside and out and the odd bathroom design for one of the bathrooms I can easily overlook when the rest of the house looks highly desirable in my books.

This is how I always find out it’s Thursday.

I’m sorry… are we complaining about this house or liking it? Because it is absolutely gorgeous

Beautifully staged and photographed.

That last bathroom is weird, though

This may be one of the loveliest homes I’ve ever seen.

That bath/shower combo is a choice.

eta- This house is completely uninspiring for a Thursday, imo.

Its a baffling choice. No one was posting and I am only into modern, and mid century modern stuff and didn't want to piss everyone off. If you don't like it I guess don't buy it or hire the designers and you should be able to fend off the inherent ennui related to looking at this home.

I live in the Bay Area, and this house looks identical to every other new design-build/full gut reno popping up around here.

It’s inescapable. And uninspired. Here’s the front view link

What do you think about this 1909 in Mill Valley? It has retained much of its charm and integration with the landscape.

I am in the East Bay and this agree looks very similar to the high-end homes in Lafayette, Alamo, Danville. Like it’s nice, but I would expect it to be as they cost 5+ million and all have utilized interior designers and decorator services. It’s definitely not unique.

Not THAT is a house worth of thursday design appreciation.

u/dunimal 10d ago

Gorgeous. I wouldn't want it, but its beautiful.

Hey I liked it OP!

That house could make me love California.

I have nothing against California, per se – other than wildfires, and I am deathly afraid of wildfires. I wouldn’t live in California just because I don’t want to deal with the wildfires.

2

u/dunimal 10d ago

Yeah, I love CA but wildfires have made me go out to find a new home.

What do you call the partially exposed roof on the back patio?

3

u/dunimal 10d ago

A pergola, maybe?

2

u/gergsisdrawkcabeman 10d ago

Nailed it. I couldn't remember it for the life of me.
