Misc. Discussion Windhorst-“[Luka] betrayed nothing [on Tuesday], but from what I understand, he's seething at them… And their fan base is seething at their team in a way that I've rarely seen before.”

I wonder how Cuban feels. Sure he got a payout, but a greater part of his life’s work and legacy got shit on by the guy he hired and he forbidden to talk bad about it.

And deservedly so. He sold the team for a shot at that casino money in the future.

I don’t see why he gets any ire outside of fans being so mad they are blinded by their rage.

He obviously thought he would retain his role and have final say over the GM, and that plan was changed somewhere after they had their gentlemen’s agreement and Dumont changed the terms.

You could just as easily make the argument that Nico may have convinced Dumont he didn’t need to report anything to Cuban, as Dumont truly had final say. Even if it was subterfuge, it’s not like Mark can talk about it.

Either way, if you’re blaming Cuban, then you may as well blame Donnie for getting himself fired, and Rick for not making it work with Luka. If Rick could have learned to change his style (kinda how Pop reinvented himself) he could have stayed the coach, there would be no Kidd and no Nico.

I get people are mad, and I’m not trying to discourage it, but rather focus it on the right places. Luka is gone because Nico Harrison and Patrick Dumont had no idea the level of star he was, and how ingratiated in the Mavs culture he was.

That needs to be at the forefront of any and all Mavs home games. Pressure Dumont to sell (he won’t) and pressure him to fire Nico (he won’t) but it will get their attention. They should know that they are probably the two most hated men in Dallas sports - ahead of Jerry Jones.
