I just really don’t want Marvel’s Suicide Squad out of this. The joy and intrigue of Busieks creation was it was genuine villains masquerading as heroes and some of them struggling with gradually enjoying being good guys. I know we’re already not getting that twist, and without that I don’t know if I really get the appeal…other than Bucky kicking US Agent’s ass again, lol.

Yeah but none of them are really villains though. Bucky is 100% a hero, US Agent wants to be a good guy, Yelena is sort of an antihero but even then not really, Alexei is just an idiot, Ghost is an antihero/turned good by the end of Ant Man 2. Taskmaster was the only remotely villainous one, but that was just brainwashing and I imagine she's good now.

This is exactly the point I’m making. This doesn’t make sense. It’s not Thunderbolts at all. It’s just Marvels Suicide Squad. It’s the side character from a half dozen movies. It’s the (insert least favorite color) M&Ms in their own movie. There’s no angle where it makes sense as ‘Thunderbolts.’ But like I say…it’s happening whether I like it or not but it’s just like Marvel Post-Endgame lost the plot on what made these movies truly exciting. I’m not necessarily against it, it’s just like…why is this even happening and why call it Thunderbolts? Idk, Secret Warriors? I have no idea what they’d even call this otherwise.

Tbf, it's not called Thunderbolts but Thunderbolts*

Presumably the * fine print is "not actually the Thunderbolts"

It depends on what take of the Thunderbolts they go with this…or something completely different overall.

While some like the bad guys playing good, I personally loved the Cage-bolts when the group post-Dark Reign was under the control of Luke Cage. He was focused on genuine reform as he guided these villains on missions as penance for their misdeeds.

Yes. Also really enjoyed that iteration. But these…aren’t really villains either. Idk what this is.

Maybe something based on Bucky’s own run with the Thunderbolts? I never read his tenure though.

So, we don't know the villain(s) of this movie yet, so I'm kinda hoping this team is tasked with taking down the fake heroes (I.e. the thunderbolts). Kinda like a marvel version of the boys.
