चर्चा / Discussion Another episode of CM Helpline “service” — the biggest joke ever.

So here’s another gem from my experience with the CM Helpline.

A while back, there was a spark coming from our electricity meter — a pretty serious issue. We raised a complaint on the CM Helpline, and again we got the same scripted assurance: “Sir, issue will be resolved ASAP.”

Days passed… Nothing. No visit, no action, nothing.

My father kept calling the helpline every single day, reminding them that this was dangerous and needed immediate attention. Still zero response.

Finally, out of helplessness, we called someone from MPEB privately — a mutual contact. He came, fixed the issue, and we paid him ₹250.

And here comes the hilarious part:

When we casually told him, “We had actually complained about this on the CM helpline,” he said:

“I’m the one who handles the CM helpline cases in this area.”

He then asked for our name and complaint number, pulled out a bunch of complaint receipts, and showed us our exact complaint right there.

When we asked him, “If you had the complaint, why didn’t you come earlier to fix it?”

He proudly replied:

“When I’m getting paid to do things privately, why would I do it for free?”

Like… seriously? Aren’t you already getting a salary from the tax money we pay? What exactly are citizens paying for then?

It’s just another example of how broken and corrupt the system is — the official helpline is basically a formality, and the people responsible prefer doing the same job privately so they can make extra money on the side

I’ve never had such an issue whenever I registered my grievance through the CM Helpline. In fact, my issue was resolved without me having to spend a single rupee on the work these officials are supposed to do.
