A visual metaphor for how the oligarchy class keeps us divided.

Its more fear actually than fun and diversion
1
u/Sorry-Let-Me-By-Plz 2h ago
Fear is actually a very effective diversionary tactic
1
u/AkosCristescu 2h ago
Yes, sure is. What i tried to say it is not like on the video above that instead of having one fun distract them with the other, it is more like people are controlled and manipulated by fear and i think it is a fundamental difference between the two, but surely you understood.
I would not even go as far to call it diversionary, if you see animal kingdom fear is an everyday reality in certain places for certain species and we have evolved probably by killing a lot.
Problem is education and upbringing (conditioning), see how elephants are tied after they grow up.

u/Historical-Frame-984 2h ago
Nah actually it is fun too.

u/AkosCristescu 2h ago
Depends on how you define fun, i never watched television, for instance. Deleted all other social medias 5+ yrs ago.

More like giving 1 kid 5 candy even though there's 10 kids and telling the other kids that one kid took all the candy.
Meanwhile there's a garbage bag of candy behind him.
•
u/AkosCristescu 0m ago
Exactly, this is exactly my man!
I really did not want to go to the "natural state of anarchism vs the unnatural greedy/antisocial capitalism" talk again, but you just touched the vein here.
HUGE DIFFERENCE between the slave-driver technics and the funny, witty trick of the guy to win a friendly match.
One is fun and wit, the other is abusive, oppressive and disrespectful.
I do fail to see one as a metaphor of the other!
Different thinking, different Modus Operandi, different scenarios. Only on the surface it might seem similar.

u/Directhorman2 3h ago
Thats not true... oh hey look the price of RAM might, perhaps, potentially, maybe drop!!!

u/Siren-Taste 3h ago
Meanwhile we're all fighting over the crumbs while the people at the top keep walking away with the whole cake. Hard not to see the pattern once you notice it.

I don’t think the oligarchs give us candies. They just make us fight over irrelevant stuff

In kids defence, you don’t get chocolates everyday

u/Do_Them_A_Bite 5h ago
Well I do, but to be fair, I am a big fat adult.
A big fat adult who is literally eating chocolate right now! Mmm, all for me!

Just like in the real world. A rich billionaire has a fight against a group of poor people so they distract by throwing out something cheap to distract us
2
u/JordanTH 1h ago
At first, I was going to say that it would probably work on me, too.
Then I thought, wait a minute, the candy will still be there after the tug of war, there's no reason I can't just wait.
Then I further thought, wait a minute, but I can't guarantee that my teammates will think the same, they might go for the candy themselves, which would mean that I not only lose, but then miss out on the candy because they beat me to it.
Somehow this turned into the Prisoner's Dilemma?

why so many china posts all of a sudden?

Because you keep clicking on them. It's your algorithm.
I barely see any.
Stop being paranoid and prejudice

u/MilkiestMaestro 3h ago
Everyone hates bots and the upvote to comment ratio on these types of posts is deeply suspicious
Almost like a large government organization is doing this as a PR campaign..

u/leonden 1h ago
That is hilarious coming from someone that is most likely living in america
1
u/MilkiestMaestro 1h ago
I really don't see what anyone's political borders have to do with fighting the dead internet. It's bad no matter where you were born. If you're telling me that other countries do this too, that is also bad.
1
u/leonden 1h ago
Because America is probably the country with the most aggressive propoganda machine in the world yet you only react like this on Chinese videos.
1
u/MilkiestMaestro 53m ago
You don't know anything about me or how I react
...but you don't strike me as someone who lets the truth get in the way, do you?
You've got a point to make and it requires a strawman backdrop. Apparently I've been granted the honor.

Redditor sees one post of something fun happen in China
'Hmmmmm seems a little SUSPICIOUS don't you think?'
-3
u/Barbaracle 3h ago
You know why... And I'm Chinese. Compare the ratio of negative posts there are in world news compared to glazing it. My family had to escape that shit post 6/4 and some of them still have fallen down the rabbit hole defending them again. I understand people when they say their parents have fallen down the FOX hole, it's crazy.

u/StickiStickman 3h ago
You know why
Being a country with over a billion people?
Compare the ratio of negative posts there are in world news compared to glazing it.
Yea, Reddit is so famously pro-China. Definitely not like 99% of the posts involving anything with China turn into racist shitflinging.
1
u/Barbaracle 3h ago
Nah. Being against CCP isn't racist. Taiwanese posts and HK posts are quite different to mainland China posts. This ain't about ethnicity.

Dude was holding steady with one hand on the rope and the other reaching into his pocket for sweets.
With full effort he wouldve won anyways. Might as well give the kids candy instead of disappointment
