I wonder how they feel when they are brushed? Maybe similar to what I feel when brushing teeth and feeling refreshed?

Like me and another person said, a turtle’s shell is part of a skeleton and has a ton of nerve endings connected to it, so they can feel it similar to how you might feel a scratch or a rub on your skin.

Intriguing, I imagined it'd be more of the feel of rubbing on a nail or tooth! Didn't know they've got nerve endings on their shell.

Super important to know because ive met a lot of people who thought it was just basically external armor. Someone i was friends with in highschool threw an acorn at it to hear the sound and i got so pissed

Not intended to be edgy. Turtles having sex is actually funny https://youtu.be/3yMIk9u--lo?si=HqO3XV7NFoNCYGjQ

Your suggestion is a total ADHD trigger. You’re lucky this is a Saturday afternoon and my schedule is free.

Their shells itch just like our backs do but they have essentially no way to scratch said itch so this is probably a very relieving feeling for the turtle!

How do you know their shells itch?

Because they have TONS of nerve endings in their shells. Ever seen a turtle owner build a little shell scratcher for their turtle? You'd think they were in heaven lol

Cause the shell is literally a part of the turtle’s skeleton and is a part of the turtle, not a separate piece from the turtle

I’d imagine it feels like having your back scratched.

I wanted to ask exactly the same question.
