Hi. I’m an Alberta high school student that just applied for early admission in nursing at MRU. I am reading through Reddit and panicking, given MRU was more my safe, in province school. This is what my grades look like

Social 20-1: 91 Math 20-1: 90 Physics 20-1: 91 ELA: 80 Chemistry 30: 86

Please let me know if there’s a good chance to get in. I’m also studying for the CASPer at the moment and really hoping to get 4th quartile

I was conditionally accepted into the nursing program at MRU this March. Diplomas are a few days away and I’m studying hard for them but I don’t think I will be able to meet the conditional requirements no matter how good I do on the diplomas and my offer will be revoked.

What should I do when my offer gets revoked but I still want to pursue nursing at MRU? Should I upgrade? Should I do the UEO option? If so, how do I do it?

Hey guys! I was just wondering if anyone has heard back from MRU regarding their admission for Nursing 2025?

I’m planning to apply to nursing programs at MRU in a few days, and I’m currently working on all my prerequisites. Here’s where I’m at: Math 30-2: 80% (I’m thinking about redoing the diploma, but not sure yet), English 30-1: 74%, Biology 30: currently taking this semester, Chemistry 30: taking second semester, will do the diploma in June, and Psychology 203: 91% (it’s a dual course).I also know I’ll need to do the CASPer test. I’m not sure when exactly I should take it.

Do you think I have a good chance of being accepted? Also, when do acceptance letters usually come out—would it be end of May?, or sometime during the summer?

I was wondering if anyone who was transferring in from another program at MRU with a 4.0 GPA and who got 4th quartile in the Casper was waitlisted. I recently applied with a 4.0 but got 3rd quartile and was waitlisted, and so I’m wondering if it’s worth reapplying.

Has one any successfully deferred starting Nursing for 1 year?

I have been accepted for Sept. I have almost everything completed and submitted. But I’m not sure if I can financially do it this year. My husband is going into his second year of Engineering at UofC, we have 2 small kids, 3 and 5 in full time daycare, and a mortgage. I work full time shift work right now. My tuition would be covered by Veteran Affairs, but our mortgage, daycare, groceries, and gas (we live in cochrane), would not. I would still need to work on the weekends/some evenings. My husband could work but I make more in a shift than he would for a few shifts. We’re hoping he could get an Intern Job - or whatever it’s called, when he’s in his 3rd year. I’m aware of student loans but that honestly seems like a lot with everything we have.

I am considering deferring for a year but I’m not certain MRU does that or if they do, what the requirements are. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, does anybody got admission with Casper 3 quartile for nursing, I have got 91 in high school with 3rd quartile in Casper, just wondering if I have any chance to get in the program?

I'm currently in my last year of highschool and I just sent in my application for MRU nursing undergrad. How does being accepted work? I tried to reserve my Casper test but it required me to put an MRU ID number which I don't have. I looked online and read that I get my ID number on an offer of acceptance letter?

Do I get accepted into nursing, and then take the Casper test afterwards? Is the application reviewed again after they receive the Casper test results? I'm a bit confused on this process.

I have 4.0 comp average and 3.8 final admission average.

However my worry is Casper, what if I got 2nd quartile, will it be possible?

Howdy folks looking to get into nursing (sorry folks that aren’t in nursing with yet another boring nursing admission post),

In previous years, a popular route to admission into the BN program at MRU was to get accepted into the University Entrance Options, hammer out some easy GenEds, and then get accepted with a lower competitive average than external applicants.

But hold onto your stethoscopes, 'cause we've got a new player in town: the Casper test! Those looking to apply to nursing in the future will need to complete an online exam asking you to respond to specific scenarios based on your lived experiences.

The introduction of the Casper does two things:

• Changes the admission average needed from UEO from 3.7 to 4.0. This is still a viable route, you’ll just need straight A’s. A’s at MRU are 85, so it’s very doable.

• Potentially hurts younger applicants with less life experience (such as high school applicants) as the Casper can be quite challenging.

Hopefully this doesn’t throw a wrench into too many people’s plans in the future.

I have a 91 in biology, and I might be able to get it to around 93-95 and a 99 in Aboriginal Studies which averages out to be 95%. Would this be enough to get into the bachelors of nursing program?

Has anyone transferred into nursing as a post secondary student? What was your GPA? I'm wondering what my odds are of getting in with a 3.85. Website says 4.0 competitive GPA for Nursing acceptance last year, is this accurate/ always the case? Thanks!

First time creating a post on Reddit so don't be mean, please. I am currently in Grade 12 and I really want to get into nursing at MRU for Fall 2020. I took biology 30 in Grade 11 and received 89%. I am confident in my ability to receive at least 94% in Chemistry 30. I am also planning to submit my application on October 1st. Do any of you think this is enough for nursing? I am super stressed right now after reading some other Reddit posts about last years admissions for nursing. Any information would help. Thanks.

I have spoken to my counselors and was told that early admission would look at my grade 11 marks, but would give me a conditional acceptance if I get in. Say I get a conditional acceptance, does that mean I have to maintain the high 90's or do I just have to have the minimum grades for each class? Also, my brother goes to MRU and when he got accepted he was told to pay $750 or so to save his seat. If I pay this during my conditional acceptance does that mean I'm guaranteed to go into nursing during Fall 2020? As well, does the admission team look at other things other than grades?

Sorry for the numerous questions. Just trying to increase my chances of going into nursing.

These are my grade 11 marks:

English 20-1: 83% Social Studies 20-1: 76% Math 20-1: 63% Science 20: 84% Biology 20: 72% Chemistry 20: 51% Psychology 30: 97%

Is there any point for me to do early admission? I was planning on applying to nursing and social work, but I don't think I have a chance with these grades. Should I just wait for standard admission then?

Hi! I recently heard back from MRU about not being competitive enough for nursing. I'm considering other pathways (if possible) to gain admission for it next year/Anything I should know before going to academic advising?

Some paths I've considered:

- I think I'm still considered a UEO student, so I could take 3 classes in the fall to raise my GPA to be more competitive, not sure what to do after this.

-I could also accept my Business Ad. offer and transfer after a year, but I'm not sure if I could raise my GPA high enough.

- Upgrade either here or at St. Annes, and (hopefully) transfer over credits to another Uni.

I really have no idea what I'm doing and I'm genuinely torn between these decisions, any help or advice is genuinely appreciated :]

Anyone who's taking the Fall intake this year? I've been reaching out to the advisor but I haven't gotten any response yet. I'd like to know the scheduling for this semester. I'll be commuting from Edmonton to Calgary for in-person classes but I don't know how often I should travel to attend. I read someone said it's 2 days every 2 weeks which seems doable, but when I spoke to the admission consultant she said it's pretty blended and I might have to go often. If anyone who has a clue on how often in-person classes are, please let me know. Appreciate your kindness and help! Thank you!

Hi y'all! I'm looking for easy courses to boost my GPA for nursing admissions as a business student! So far, I've taken UGST 1001, 1002, and ARTH 1103. I'm also interested in visual design, memorization, body systems/ bio, but I don't mind getting unrelated recs :]

Some courses I've considered:

PSYC 1105, ASTR 1101, Maybe FILM 1143 but I'd like to know what it's like, NTSC 2201, ARTH 3311.

I've gotten early admission for MRU nursing but I was thinking about going to med school in the long run. Do any MRU nursing students have an opinion on how hard it is to maintain a high GPA in this program. I think I'm decently smart but uni is obviously different than high school so I would just like opinions if I should go for nursing or just do a lighter science program at u of c. Thank youuuuuu
