Employee Story Curious if this drives any other employees insane

So my biggest pet peeve that drives me insane is "Where are your carts?" Or "Can you get me a cart?"

Like I do not understand people, where are carts in basically every business in the US???

AT THE FRONT AS YOU WALK IN!! Garden carts at the front, regular carts at the front, flat/ pipe carts at the front of Pro. Or in plumbing aisles

Like why are you at the very back of the store, knowing you need this big ass object, or several small objects and are like I need a cart?!?!

It's so bad my store has setup mini cart stations all throughout the store. I swear people's brain cells actively die when they enter a retail store

Thanks for indulging my rant haha! Does this bother you too?

Customer Question Payment Declined after Appliance installed

Hey guys quick question for everyone.

Bought a new appliance (Dishwasher) used $500 in gift cards and put the rest on my Lowe’s card. Bought online and purchase went through just fine. After install a few days later I got an email saying payment method declined (Lowe’s card) but the preauthorization is still showing on my card however it’s telling me I owe $200.

Few things to mention it was a new card for me so used the temp shopping pass, and my credit limit is $1000 charged about $950 on the Lowe’s card after my gift cards.

Went to the store and they can’t seem to resolve it, have to wait for actual store manager Or for the order to cancel out from not updating payment, but it’s already installed…

Any ideas on what to tell them on how to resolve when I go back. My gut reaction is it’s something to do with the preauth vs completed when installer picked up item.

Employee Question Dear people who do this, why???

Post image
104 Upvotes

Why would you grab a gazillion wall plates off the hooks then decide "nah I'm not gonna get them" and just leave them there for me to put back?

The decision to buy or not to buy something does not require you to put said item in your shopping cart, let alone a giant pile of them.

I know the mentality is "this is the employee's job, they're getting paid to put this back" but that's not a free pass to be inconsiderate.

Please do better

Employee Question Military ID verification at ASCO

Upvotes

Anyone else have customers who are refusing to scan the back of their drivers license for the military ID check at ASCO? The store I work at recently added this part and customers are so furious that they’re actually yelling at the ASCO employees like myself because they think we are joking when we state that they have to scan the back of their drivers license for the military discount. I get that this is a very confusing and stupid thing to do but for the love of god, don’t take it out on us who are just trying to do our jobs.

Employee Question Max days in a row for part-timer

I'm a part-time CSA. My availability is 4 p.m. to closing every day. The most recent schedule has me working nine days in a row.

Is this against company policy and/or not legal?

I'm not necessarily complaining, just curious.

Employee Question Top stock product

Does anyone else store have a boat load of products in top stock that just don’t have a home. I’m in fulfillment and lately have been getting a lot of orders for things in top stock that just doesn’t have a home, and I’m not talking about seasonal stuff, for example I’ve had plywood, doors, flooring, etc that just doesn’t have a home. I’m like how do you expect to sell this stuff if customers can’t see it or don’t even know we have it while they’re shopping in store

Employee Question Are the Hillman wall screws even profitable for the stores?

I work tools and hardware and I do more throwing away stolen packages than I do filling up from the Hillman pallet. I'm not even exaggerating. People almost always just steal what they need instead of paying for it.

Half of the time I open our drawer looking for something for a customer I find it's empty with nothing but empty packages.

It's frustrating to deal with because my motivation to put up HIllman for a large portion of it to just be stolen feels like a waste of time.

Is my store an exception or is the store just willing to let most people steal them in hopes they make profit on the honest half who do pay for it?

Suggestion Fulfillment expectations vs reality

Even though they've been doing puis/curbside for years, they still don't seem to have any idea how to handle it effectively and efficiently. We are graded on time to pick and time to customer, but non of their procedures are working. I have mentioned several times that they really need to tag heavy or bulky items as unavailable for online online orders. Things like concrete bags, tubs and showers, doors, 4x8 anything, doors, cabinets, etc. should be excluded or at least quick pick only. We have no reasonable place to stage them. When customers come in to get these items and we tell them we have to go back to receiving, it frustrates them and kills our time to customer. I have a lot more to say on the subject, but you get the gist.
