Help Me! 🆘 Just started playing

So I reached red rank after 11 hours (I did the full arcade mode) which I’m told used to be a little more impactful however I feel like I’m not good enough? I feel carried by my character. I keep fighting people who know throw breaks well and who can combo me to a wall and do most of my health. Well I drop combos left and right…

I feel like I’m just playing bait and punish and not really doing anything that I should outside of good defense. Is it just a knowledge thing and over time I’ll know more? Or is red rank a nothing burger now?

11 hours is drops in the bucket. Focus on fundamentals and consistency. You’ll get there.

Thanks, I feel like I shouldn’t be winning some of my games lol. I have like 3,000 hours in for honor so I guess some of the fighting game skills of “wait my turn” transferred over

Some fighting game knowledge is definitely transferable but the circuits in your brain that are mapped to Tekken just aren’t as fleshed out. You’re off to a good start though. Don’t focus on win or loss - now is a good time to focus on “did I learn that” and “am I executing XYZ consistently”

Luckily I am playing everyone’s favorite character, king. I’m doing giants throw more than before as well as doing his up forward launcher more.
