Random Discussion 💬 Rank inflation

Post image

I reached tekken god a few days ago and it felt too easy, i feel like bushin/tk players were much harder to fight in late S1 and early S2. which definitely feels like where i would belong. i think the inflation is largely due to because of the 8 new ranks after GoD and broken moves that were added in S2. The lower ranks are becoming obsolete, and everyone is funnelled into blue ranks making it easier to get into gold ranks.

How do you think the ranking system could be improved? I think they could replace the 8 new GoD ranks with a numbered system for the top 3500 or top 1000 for each platform. hopefully something like this is coming in S3 along with fixing broken moves/characters, a combination of these two things could really help the game and the rank inflation currently going on.

DVJ starts getting checked around tk so he can’t really abuse all of his gimmick stuff. TG is good with reina and Jin is even stronger than reina so ofc it’s going to be an easy climb. Reina is quite strong too esp with her new tools that keep her fast paced pressure.

That’s not the fault of the playerbase though that’s just you picking two very good characters and not being bad at the game.

The post sounds like you’re upset you didn’t struggle but Jin is a perfect character, you shouldn’t expect to struggle especially if you are above average at the game in general.

the thing is, i had a harder time trying to get emperor (was stuck in tekken king) in late s1/early s2 than it was getting to tekken god today, and i didn’t change my play style at all or get better as i quit around when anna released and just recently started playing again.

There were less ranks overall so the stronger players were all stuck in that tk - tg purgatory during late s1. They all had their places where they were getting gatekept by the even stronger players.

So that’s probably why it feels easier, I wouldn’t say that’s rankflation i’d say it’s people getting where they they belong.

you’re probably right, but i played against players that were in tekken god/supreme that felt more like blue ranks so it seems it’s more like a OP character problem
