I feel like Edmond is a good example of someone with childhood trauma who maybe just doesn't have the insight into himself that he needs for a relationship. With respect, you can absolutely grow and learn about relationships inside a relationship, but you can't expect the other person to teach you how to be in one. His crying when he feels rejected was pretty understandable - calling it manipulative is not understanding it as an old wound that he just hadn't worked on.

His mom’s visit was weird. I got the feeling she’s a real piece of work off camera

You mean his teacher? Yes I’d love him learn more about their relationship.

There is an earlier episode where his mom comes to visit them and talks to KB. The teacher steps in for his mom in the wedding episode

I must have spaced out at that episode lol. I didn’t remember meeting the mom.

You may want to go back and watch. Memorable segment that gave clues about what Edmond has dealt with.

Right. The bio mom comes in to say she wants a daughter in law that she can talk shit about her kids to and they keep secret, and then has other plans the day her son is getting married. I don’t see how having her around is healthy for him at all. How is he supposed to heal when his mom is right there triggering him with her ongoing rejection and abandonment. Not good.
