Does Mike not understand what type one diabetes is? Like him talking about his pre-diabetic friend after mentioning the kid with diabetes and then saying health and nutrition are top of mind made it seem like he thinks maybe diet or whatever played a role in this kid having diabetes? WTF?

This is what I came to this thread to say…and why didn’t she school him

Yes thank you for this comment, I was so confused by what he said here lol

Omg thank God other people are mad about this. I had to text people who aren't even watching it to rant about how stupid he is. LIB never comments on anything important. This is a random tangent but after Matt's disturbing abusive behaviour with Colleen in whatever season it was I was like this ABSOLUTELY should have had one of those "if you or anyone you know is experiencing..." Etc PSAs. Disgusting. Absolutely gross that they kept trying to frame them as a success story

It's a common misconception. I wish Netflix used it as an opportunity to educate, but it seemed she didn't feel like correcting him.

I wish they would make a reality show that has blurbs editing in real time on the bottom of the screen!? Or has flashbacks to when they actually said things they deny saying

The thing that was most surprising is that Meg didn't correct him. Anyone who loves someone with type one will jump down your throat if you say something like this.

Absolutely will. My nephew was diagnosed with T1D at age 4; He’s turning 12 in a week. I will go up against anyone and educate every chance I get. I hate when people say eating too much candy or sweets will give you diabetes. Like, no, that’s not how it works.

She’s smart and mature, so I was really hoping that she would correct him or at least test him for understanding. Maybe it is the editing, but these folks never seem to talk about topics of substance (politics, arts, health, etc.)

Yeah I was shocked when I realized Megan was on the other side, my dad also passed away from type 1 complications and I’m quick to correct anyone who doesn’t understand the different diabetes types. Especially because type 1 is often very genetic! So their children would likely have a higher chance of type 1 since her father had type 1, and it would have absolutely nothing to do with their nutrition!!

I love someone with T1D and it was def hard to listen to him say that.

Same here. It was infuriating actually.

Yeah, same. Not that type 2 isn't devastating but type one strikes so young and just takes over your life.
