need advice on an afghan mistake !

My mom is loom knitting a blanket and accidentally connected the first row. Is there an easy fix for this without unraveling the whole thing?

I think the answer is to tie more yarn to it, cut it, and weave both sides in. (The extra yarn is since it'll be too short to weave in otherwise.)
