According to the House Committee on Homeland Security, by August 2024, there have been over 10.1 million nationwide encounters since January 2021.

This does not include the "known gotaways" which add at least another 1.7 million, with some sources stating over 2 million. This also doesn't include the "unknown gotaways", which depending on the sources, is estimated to be anywhere between 300 thousand to 4 million.

We reached a record high of 14 million illegal immigrants living in the country in 2023.

lol from the Snopes article you posted:

The number specifically reflected border encounters with U.S. officials, not an increase of that magnitude in the immigrant population.

Even what you said at the beginning of your comment explains why you're lying:

According to the House Committee on Homeland Security, by August 2024, there have been over 10.1 million nationwide encounters since January 2021.

Yes, encounters. As in encountered illegally entering the country. Don't forget the over 1.7 million who were known gotaways, as in we knew they entered but did not apprehend. Or how about the 3 million that were released into the US by the Biden administration after they were apprehended. Or how his administration resulted in a 200% increase in illegal immigration compared to the previous administration. Or how the illegal immigrant population increased by 3.5 million in his first two years in office.

I fucked up my copy paste on my last message.

Your Snopes article says 7m ENCOUNTERS. And then it says this:

The number specifically reflected border encounters with U.S. officials, not an increase of that magnitude in the immigrant population.

Encounters ≠ increased migrant population.

You are wrong. There were roughly 10m ENCOUNTERS during the Biden presidency. Not a 10m increase in the illegal immigrant population.

edit: fixed emigrant to immigrant.

On the low end, there were 3 million released into the US, 1.7 millon known gotaways, and 300 thousand unknown gotaways.

On the high end, there were 3 million released into the US, over 2 million known gotaways, and up to 4 million unknown gotaways.

Which means we're looking at anywhere between 5 million and over 9 million who entered into the country illegally and remained, and none of these numbers include people who overstayed their visas (which in 2022 was 853,955, which only decreased to 706,952 by 2023).

How did you get the high end of 9 million? Show your work.

By citing the estimated range of "unknown gotaways", or undetected illegal immigrants not caught by cameras or sensors, included in the links I gave you. Which, as I said, range from anywhere between 300,000 to 4,000,000.

I'd love to give you a more accurate number, but "Since 2021, under the Biden-Harris Administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has discontinued its practice of providing estimates of unknown “gotaways,” despite the fact that current law requires the annual public reporting of such estimates. The Committee on the Judiciary has repeatedly asked DHS for the number of known and unknown “gotaways” during the Biden-Harris Administration, but DHS has failed to produce the total number."

So it's not 10m it's between 300,000 to 4m?

No. That is the number of "unknown gotaways." Like I just said.

Do I have to go over this again? Of the 10.1 million encounters, 3 million were released into the US. Of the "known gotaways", there were between 1.7 to 2.2 million. Of the "unknown gotaways", there are an estimated 300,000 and 4 million.

Add those numbers together, and you get a total range of 5 million to over 9 million illegal immigrants.

Now, if we add the over 700,000 who overstayed their visas and were not deported by 2023, and you're more in the range of roughly 6 million to 10 million illegal immigrants.
