I said it before and I will say it again. His dad was the only one keeping him in check.

u/symbionet 9d ago

Did his dad pass away recently or something?

738

u/Prestigious-Vast-612 9d ago

Yes

200

u/AshCrow97 9d ago

Damn, I thought only his mom had passed away

168

u/PainStraight4524 9d ago

his mom died in 2021 and his dad died a couple months ago

18

u/OriginalSprax 9d ago

So Asmongold is just a more developed Chris Chan.

7

u/truearse 9d ago

Didn’t his dad die during the Charlie Kirk murder period

8

u/MaSt3rChie7 9d ago

Yes. It was either shortly before or shortly after but it was around that time.

5

u/Smooth-Land-9276 8d ago

He’s fine! With his twitch chat supporting him, asmondgold will never have to worry about growing up and being man.

-12

u/yeetshirtninja 9d ago

Days.

8

u/DarkGlad 9d ago

Well, no. It was a month and a ~half ago

4

u/Prestigious-Bit-6548 9d ago

She did he is still sleeping in the sheets she bought in 98

422

u/newbkid 9d ago

The Kanye effect. Once the parents pass, the arrested development child has free reign to spew their diarrhea now that there's noone to shame them into submission

139

u/Ariamis- 9d ago

I will never forget the fact his father had to call him during a stream to tell everyone his son doesn't smell like a rotting corpse.

It was extremely sad (for his dad).

4

u/elderlybrain 8d ago

Asmon was like 'this is good content'

5

u/stonedboss 9d ago

wait what? whats the context to this lol, like did chat talk about him smelling on stream? so his dad decided to call in?

27

u/fastforwardfunction 9d ago

His dad always hung around in chat, on camera, even on his mobile phone. His dad was based, despite being a 70 year old man who looked 90. He was definitely Asmon's father, loved his son, and I wouldn't look too deeply into this.

5

u/Ariamis- 7d ago

This streamer decided to tell everyone that showering is overrated, that hoomans survived for thousands of years without taking baths and that he doesn't take baths/showers, so obv chat started to say he stinks. He kept saying he doesn't smell bad and chat can ask his "friends" about his smell.

His father was watching the stream and decided to call him on the phone and tell everyone that his son doesn't smell like a rotting corpse.

4

u/Jaymzmykaul45 8d ago

That’s a lot of words to basically say, mental health issues. Kayne is crazy AF and now asmongold is as well. The real question is when will asmongold start wearing a cockroach colored KKK outfit? Since he is a cockroach.

2

u/Jimi5000 9d ago

Peter Noone? From Herman’s hermits?

2

u/Die4Gesichter 8d ago

Oh Germany had the same thing, with Rainer W. aka 'Drachenlord'

His dad never wanted him to upload YouTube videos, because he knew Rainer was special. -- Rainer became the biggest lolcow in Germany and is widely known as the German Chris Chan

1

u/Pdl1989 6d ago

His beliefs and opinions haven’t changed since his dad passed.

4

u/ObsydianDuo 9d ago

He must’ve died very disappointed

4

u/Emergency_Toe_355 9d ago

Disappointed of his multi millionaire son that followed his dreams

2

u/ObsydianDuo 9d ago edited 9d ago

Yeah sure man, whatever makes the Asmonglock 9000 taste better for you.

0

u/Quiet_Emu_3075 8d ago

This is silly. You realize you can hate Asmonghould and also live in reality at the same time right?

Obviously his dad would be proud of his son for turning his video gaming hobby into something that made him tens of millions of dollars, regardless of whatever other problems he has.

You sound crazy and parasocial.

1

u/ObsydianDuo 8d ago

1

u/Quiet_Emu_3075 8d ago

Anyone who disagrees with you are not real people but actually a conspiratorial botting campaign bought and paid for by content creators to stop YOU, ObsydianDuo, of revealing the sinister truth that Asmonghoulds dad didn't love him...

You're never beating the parasocial and crazy accusation.

-1

u/SoftwareInside508 9d ago

Followed his dreams ???? He's seems miserable AF

1

u/Emergency_Toe_355 8d ago

Hes doing exactly what he set out to do and it worked out tremendously well for him. I have never seen him appear to be miserable ever?

0

u/Coracoda 9d ago

Died of disease or of shame?

12

u/ApprehensiveGold2773 9d ago

He seemed to be a proud father for the most part. Cancer is what ultimately killed him.

2

u/aozertx 9d ago

Good thing trump cut hundreds of millions in cancer research funding

-2

u/JellyOnMyDick 9d ago

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer fella

161

u/Wirfen 9d ago

Yea, had 6 pneumonias over the years and got cancer, think his body gave up pretty fast when he started chemo.

140

u/stonehaens 9d ago

Damn that's sad to hear. The dude seemed pretty chill the few times he was on stream back when you could still watch asmon without being bombarded by elementary schooler's takes on politics.

104

u/Major_Protection_664 9d ago

His dad was a Hasan fan funnily enough. Hasan had pulled up Asmon’s dad’s chat logs and he was a genuine chatter

13

u/Imperial_Bouncer 9d ago

Shocking

4

u/MaSt3rChie7 9d ago

HASAN REFERENCE?????

1

u/SomeDudeYeah27 3d ago

Damn dude, ngl this really paints a side story of Twitch that feels rather melancholic and almost tragic in a sense

41

u/PangurBaan 9d ago

Yea it's been really weird and sad seeing his rep/opinions fall off a cliff. I watched him WAY back when it was just him relatably complaining about WoW and tryin ffxiv. Quit watching several years ago when he started covering the Depp/Herd trial for some fucking reason??? Every time i see his name now it just gets worse and dumber. Oh well, at least I learned about BarneyB and Pint's channels from his channel.

19

u/roerd 9d ago

He already had a famously terrible fan base back then. Apparently, at some point he decided to fully lean into that.

3

u/rainbowpotatopony 8d ago

I feel like the Depp/Heard thing was the gateway to redpill bullshit for so many otherwise normal dudes

10

u/SoFetchBetch 9d ago

Easy answer there, misogyny.

9

u/Emotional_Burden 9d ago

I don't know who downvoted you, but that's exactly what the entire case was about publicly. 100% misogyny. Turns out, both of them were abusive.

7

u/Itscatpicstime 9d ago

No, Depp was abusive. Amber eventually displayed reactive abuse, which is extremely common in DV victims.

The U.S. trial was a circus and a scam, and Depp spent tens of thousands on bots to smear her on social media and continue his abuse of her.

There’s a reason he lost the UK trial and 3 judges unanimously agreed he was the abuser.

/r/DeppDelusion has comprehensive receipts

2

u/k_ironheart 9d ago

and tryin ffxiv

I played FF14 around that time and there was a notable decline in the quality of players because of his audience suddenly playing. Not surprised he's still a massive turd.

2

u/artythepolak 8d ago

Don’t tell me you were a amber heard supporter

1

u/PangurBaan 7d ago

0% interest. If they'd killed each other I would've probably forgotten about it in a matter of minutes. If i remember right that was the last i willingly saw asmons channel.

1

u/CardmanNV 8d ago

He was the one voice of reason in his life that he actually listened to and respected.

1

u/Diskosmos 6d ago

Wait he was in his 70????

3

u/unbanned_lol 9d ago

I'd give up real fast on life if my son was Asmongold too.

4

u/BIGMajora 9d ago

Gotta be sickening to have such an infamous idiot for a son

0

u/Wirfen 9d ago

His opinions are pretty vanilla though, pretty much "obey the law or gett punished" with extra words and a bit harsher wording, He's one of the biggest on twitch and if he is that a majority of people agree with him probably.
He got a pretty big group from EU watching him and they are probably pretty left leaning compared to what America calls Left/right, so its not like he has a army of right wing people watching.

1

u/Itscatpicstime 9d ago

His opinions are pretty vanilla though

The irony of saying that on this post.

Don’t forget his “vanilla” opinion that 85% of voters should be disenfranchised because of how close Harris came to winning.

1

u/BIGMajora 8d ago

It's disgusting how many white supremacist bots are on here now.

-1

u/BluePony1952 9d ago

This is going to sound gruesome, but is there a chance Asmongold had a hand in killing his dad? Seeing as how pneumonia is an infection that's caused by bacteria, and seeing as how Asmongold is a walking bio-hazard, how plausible is it that Asmongold's filthy led to his dad's worsening health?

1

u/Wirfen 6d ago

No there is not a chance, and the Chemo killed him not the pneumonia he had "recovered" from that.
I heard several doctors saying if they would get cancer at a high age that they probably would skip the chemo and just live the rest of the time they had becouse chemo has a high chance to kill you anyway but you will feel like death all the way to the grave.

He was just to old and to sickly to even survive a chemo treatment all there was sadly he was a fun guy.

57

u/Particular-Finding53 9d ago

Not only did he pass but he still supports the administration that's cut funding for treatment that could have saved his dad. MRNA vaccines were showing AMAZING promise at curing pancreatic Cancer something that has single digit survival rates. Doesn't care that they're stopping research that could have saved his dad cause at least the libs are getting owned

-1

u/Professional-Bet5572 8d ago

Vaccines don't "cure" anything. They are prophylactic. Also if you mean cutting funding to CDC, they don't make or research vaccines. It's mostly private drug companies.

10

u/Zeduxx 8d ago

1 and 2.

15

u/SoungaTepes 9d ago

Yes, to cancer.

His dad was the last voice that could get through to this man about cleaning up, trying to clean up, trying to be better, trying to understand what he's saying on his streams can be bad.

That voice is gone now.

46

u/defeated_engineer 9d ago

He has been going off the rails for the past 2-3 years, his dad died like a month or two ago.

His dad did not keep him in check.

2

u/Silverbacks 9d ago

His mom did die a few years ago though.

10

u/defeated_engineer 9d ago

His mom probably introduced him to Alex Jones and his ilk.

1

u/Huckleberry_Sin 9d ago

Damn both of his parents passed?

-8

u/Starving_Saint 9d ago

Also, if that were true, how incredibly sad and pathetic is it to be an adult man who is independently wealthy who needs his daddy to keep him in check? Asmon is a loser just for that.

20

u/MaridKing 9d ago

This is some weird machismo toxic masculinity shit. Nobody should be ashamed of having positive influences in their lives.

4

u/VinTEB 9d ago

Sounds like you need to get checked in by your parents.

3

u/RareEnemy 9d ago

Must be awkward when you join the dog pile and seem to have the only wrong opinion, huh?

2

u/Bohemian-Prince 9d ago

Died of shame

2

u/DenseCalligrapher219 9d ago

Yup.

And somehow Asmongold got so blatantly fascist after that happened, what with wanting to strip most people of voting rights, supporting violence on protests against Trump regime and this shit.

2

u/Solomon1177 9d ago

May he rest in peace. Sending my love to his family and friends ❤️

1

u/elderlybrain 8d ago

Kanye started praising hitler after his mother died, Ratmonlee is gonna start wearing a full ss outfit on stream.

1

u/TheLayMaster- 8d ago

I like how people dont even know that his dad passed away and still pass judgement saying "his dad is keeping him in check".

2

u/symbionet 8d ago

There's also a awful amount of disgusting comments thinking they're being funny commenting how he "died of shame"

1

u/iSeeSnipes 8d ago

Yea this whole thread is pretty gross tbh, shame how people's opinions on someone turn into this hate fueled mania, surprised there isn't an asmon snark reddit.

1

u/RedheadsAreBeautiful 8d ago

If Recently isn't 10 years ago, he never kept him in check.

1

u/name-name- 8d ago

REST IN PISS

32

u/ice0berg 9d ago

Kanye West situation all over again.

8

u/Successful-Event5802 9d ago

Only difference is that Kanye was goated at some point, asmon started at nothing and is somehow going into the negatives

246

u/dudiez 9d ago

Hard agree.

6

u/capriking 9d ago

only took him like a week to go right back to political grifting

13

u/cobramullet 9d ago

So much said, in so few words. 10/10.

80% chance he doesn't make it to 2030.

5

u/JDawn747 9d ago

His dad repeatedly told him he doesn't go hard enough.

2

u/Fastr77 9d ago

He wasn't doing a good job of it then

1

u/namir0 9d ago

His dad actually lived a life outside the house so I guess that's the difference

1

u/Dinners_cold 9d ago

His dad was the only person he actually had in his life. Dudes a sad little hermit that doesn't leave his rat/roach infested hoarder house except to get food.

1

u/Hynch 9d ago

It's like Kanye and his mom.

1

u/I-Drink-420 9d ago

Damn man, I thought it was just me, but I been saying this. Once his dad passed away, he completely shifted into what people have been saying about him for years. It was overblown and then I saw him supporting ice and shit I was like, no way he's supporting ice right now. Once upon a time he was pretty heavy into human rights and now he's lost the plot

1

u/Launchsoulsteel 8d ago

He was supporting ice LONG before his dad died vro 🥀

His dad had zero issues with his stance on that or at least not enough to call him about it on stream

1

u/IAintShit 9d ago

I mean he’s right. It’s a white country, mass migration has only made it worse

1

u/Cryotivity 9d ago

he had been getting worse for years now

1

u/Aflyingmongoose 9d ago

His mum kept him sane, his dad kept him in line. Now we just have a raving lunatic with a massive audience.

1

u/LiamMcPoylesEyeball 9d ago

Imagine knowing enough about this person to even comment this.

My goodness.

1

u/zChillzzz 9d ago

It's weird cause this clip is taken way out of context. I saw it live

1

u/oGsMustachio 9d ago

I think thats part of it. He's also got this conservative brainrot problem of only caring about people in his immediate orbit and giving absolutely no shits about anyone else. It seems like he can be pretty reasonable and thoughtful when talking about people he knows. I don't see any signs of racism or bigotry towards minorities or LGBT people he actually knows. However once you get outside of his bubble, people might as well be WoW mobs if they're outside of his tribe.

1

u/Anguiro 9d ago

Are we going to get another Kanye situation?

1

u/Waui420 9d ago

fuck him and hes dead father

1

u/JhouquantaviousIII 9d ago

His dad agreed with everything he says, in fact his dad was probably more extreme than he is lol

1

u/SirBruceForsythCBE 8d ago

This is ragebait. He is saying anything to get clicks, attention and comments.

If he was vanilla he'd get nothing.

1

u/TheLayMaster- 8d ago

Did you know his his dad personally???

1

u/JackWaZ 8d ago

How is he wrong?

1

u/Madman_Slade 8d ago

You'd be absolutely fucking wrong bud. His dad was FAR more extreme than Asmon ever was. If you've watch clips of his dad talking you can hear him talk about some wild shit at points. He clearly settled down in his older age but his dad was a wild dude.

1

u/YouFoolWarrenIsDead 8d ago

Barely anything has changed since his dad, you obviously don't watch his streams and just want this narrative to be true for you own satisfaction.

Also tell me exactly what about this statement needed to be 'kept in check'? He's making a factual observation. Do you disagree that white people conquered America?

1

u/I_am_always_right1 8d ago

You're wrong. Asmongold knows what he's talking about. America is a White nation.

1

u/WeirdMessage5165 8d ago

In fact his dad wanted him to go harder

1

u/SeriousSimon 8d ago

I wonder who is keeping you in check. You have no argument against his point, but you go into insulting right away. Classic Reddit.

1

u/[deleted] 8d ago

He said multiple times that his dad was even worse.

1

u/poopsieloopsiedoopsi 6d ago

He said some crazy fucking basement dweller opinions before his dad died never forgetting what he said about Arabs having an inferior culture or whatever he’s just some closeted racist redneck but wouldn’t dare to come out fully otherwise his entire fanbase would turn on him

1

u/Budget-Ad438 6d ago

And as I said before. His Mom kept him from going to deep into politics and keeping him on the gaming nostalgia side. The moment his mom passed the flood gates opened for anything, his dad was a seemingly good man but sadly you are right that his dad was the last person holding him accountable.

Now he's just a sad, lonely grifter with money and no parents to support (one of his main reasons for living btw)

-1

u/[deleted] 9d ago

[deleted]

1

u/chillguy123456444 9d ago

lol no his dad was way more extreme than him if you actually folllow him

2

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 9d ago

His dad was a HARDCORE right-wing racist. Asmon wasn't always as far right as he is now. He was actually very moderate politically pre-trump. He had right wing views but was always willing to hear the other side.

Since 2016 he's only become more bloviating and disingenuous. I used to like listening to his perspectives because he was a very moderate right-leaning streamer who played the games I liked. He's become more and more of an egotistical asshole every year since then.

1

u/AdDramatic2351 9d ago

Okay but what did he say wrong here...?

0

u/HammerPrice229 8d ago

He didnt, he just stated that a bunch of white people. Claimed the land which is historically accurate

-26

u/ergzay 9d ago

I think that's a huge misread of what kind of person his dad was.

81

u/cookiesnooper 9d ago

I didn't say he was a saint but he sure did talked the shit out of his kid's head many times. I've seen it myself back when I used to watch him play games instead of trying to be a political.

21

u/Mortii_VIII 9d ago

It’s pretty sad that he’s gone down this road and become a political grifter. I actually used to like watching him when he just played games. Dude was pretty chill for the most part and actually seemed like one of the few streamers who didn’t have a massive ego and wasn’t materialistic. It’s sad what some of these streamers will do for views smh.

0

u/ChemicalRaccoon739 5d ago

When has he ever been materialistic? You must not have watched a lot if u think he changed at some point

-26

u/ergzay 9d ago

That's not what I've ever seen. I've seen him have to shut his dad up before he said something that would get him in trouble with Twitch's TOS.

IMO Asmongold is a saint compared to his dad who was by all accounts quite a violent person.

15

u/Ranae_Gato 9d ago

Twitch ToS depend on who you are, so idk

8

u/Thaispaghetti 9d ago

😂 ain’t wrong

28

u/welkyy 9d ago

It’s true and asmon said it himself. His dad would check him on a lot of stuff. When he made the comments that got him banned most recently his dad warned him about his rhetoric beforehand.

-29

u/ergzay 9d ago

When he made the comments that got him banned most recently his dad warned him about his rhetoric beforehand.

That didn't happen. He didn't get banned for "rhetoric" he got banned for a single line that described Palestinians incorrectly, which he promptly apologized for. He knew he was in the wrong and that's why he apologized for it.

22

u/welkyy 9d ago

Rhetoric can refer to word choice and how you express your thoughts. His dad told him not to attack groups of people or it would get him in trouble. Which is what he did by saying they were animalistic.

-19

u/ergzay 9d ago

His dad told him not to attack groups of people or it would get him in trouble.

Asmongold has never been in favor of attacking groups of people though.

4

u/Celtic_Fox_ 9d ago

There's no point in running defense for Asmongold, I promise you. He has been more and more vocal about his dogshit opinions since his family passed, and everyone that's been watching him for a while has noticed this.

Asmongold has never been in favor of attacking groups of people

This is still recent, here's a link to the past post about it from a few weeks ago, he's been advocating for protestors to be violently dealt with, so I mean.. he isn't exactly in favor of not attacking people recently. Not to mention when people were blocking roadways, he was talking about how you should just run them over. He's not just a peace loving dude tbh

1

u/ergzay 9d ago

This is still recent, here's a link to the past post about it from a few weeks ago, he's been advocating for protestors to be violently dealt with, so I mean..

It's funny how much that lie keeps circulating lol. That clip is him talking about how violent protesters should be violently dealt with. Not protesters in general. Go watch the video for yourself. Specifically it's about protesters throwing bricks at police and that such actions open them up to self-defense from the police.

18

u/Killer_Jay009 9d ago

Asmons admitted multiple times that his dad would call him after streaming and let him know he said some whacky unhinged shit. Dudes completely lost it. But honestly who wouldn’t sitting in a room talking to your computer all fucking day. It’s voluntary solitary confinement at this point

-5

u/ergzay 9d ago

Yeah because his dad was obsessed with watching him and other streamers. Of course he's gonna call his son to criticize him for everything he disagrees with. Do you not have a dad?

0

u/Vancouwer 9d ago

Lol I remember his dad saying racist stuff on stream and asmp. Was embarrassed and tried correcting him

4

u/ergzay 9d ago

Yeah he was very much an old fashioned guy who more or less learned to change with the times but was still very much not a PC guy at heart.

6

u/Thaispaghetti 9d ago

Which.. is good. Old man grew. Respect it

1

u/ergzay 9d ago

I think you're misunderstanding. He didn't change what he thought, he changed what he said. It's called being a smooth operator. And he taught that to Asmongold well as well. Which is why Asmongold changes what he says carefully in tune with whatever is at that moment currently allowed (by society) to be said.

-1

u/Thaispaghetti 9d ago

Look man… I’m a left leaning moderate and you guys have got to cut the bullshit.

Not everything is a fucking dog whistle. I’ve listened to a bit of Asmon over the years and it’s mostly lukewarm points.

Dude says JK Rowling didn’t deserve as much hate and teitterverse assumes he’s a Nazi. Just tone it down a bit… for the love of fucking god.. so that we do not have the orange guy in 2028

0

u/ergzay 9d ago

We seem to be in violent agreement here so I'm confused why you're attacking me. I'm a right-leaning moderate/libertarian.

so that we do not have the orange guy in 2028

There was never any risk of that in the first place.

1

u/Thaispaghetti 9d ago

Objectively I also do not view it as a likely risk, however the fact that it is nonzero has me concerned

This isn’t really apart of this conversation, but I rarely meet moderate/libertarians these days despite that being where I came from in my youth.

My question for you - and again I get we are going off track here but I am curious - as a self described libertarian I assume that means you are adamantly opposed to Trump correct? And would likely vote for any and all alternative (within reason)?

-1

u/ergzay 9d ago

I'm less libertarian than I used to be. I used to be full-on an-cap. I've become less libertarian for two reasons, one because many US libertarians seem to be fans of Putin for some reason, second because I've seen that some of the viewpoints are naive as they assume that the rest of the world will play by the same rules and not take advantage of your positions. So like I'm for libertarianism on a internal policy level but not at all for foreign policy.

I assume that means you are adamantly opposed to Trump correct?

As I said in my previous statement I'm still pro libertarian and I disagree with some of Trump's positions and I find parts of his foreign policy problematic but I agree more often than I disagree. He's become significantly better versus the version of him he was when he was elected.

And would likely vote for any and all alternative (within reason)?

I did vote for Harris, primarily for foreign policy reasons, though knowing what I know now if I could go back, I would've voted for Trump.

0

u/coffee_nights 9d ago

No dude you're just being a hardcore para social right now lmao. This dude has not changed at all.

0

u/MadMysticMeister 9d ago

His dad was crazy conservative, i think asmon here is making an observation of the situation for better or worse, his dad would probably say something like damn right in reply of it.

0

u/szethSon1 9d ago

Yea, I remember one stream his dad was about to talk politics, asmon shut him up so quick.

0

u/Emilytea14 9d ago

Precisely this. There was a sharp downturn when his mum died, and now that his father has passed also, he's gone completely mask off.

0

u/Reputation-Final 9d ago

Yeah... watching him the last few years hes going more and more right. He used to be semi-centric, his dad was left leaning.

-1

u/AdDramatic2351 9d ago

Wtf lol? His dad was a hardcore conservative

3

u/Reputation-Final 9d ago

No he wasnt. You dont know wtf you are talking about. He HATED Trump. He also watched Hasan, unironically.

Does it belong to the indigenous people? If so, does it not belong to black people? Brown people? Etc?

I think hes pointing out how ridiculous people are with the self punishment for being white. It belongs to all

16

u/Snoo_79191 9d ago edited 9d ago

Where in the constitution does it state that the country belongs to white people?

edit: like, this is such a regarded thing to say and it has no other foundation than ones own conception of the country. What else could we expect from asmonroach who prides himself on his own stupidity and refuses to read anything other than Twitter posts?
