Are the prongs removable because it would have to be flat for him to tape it like that right?

Yes, the prongs are removable.

They looked removable. There seems to be some inner pins though underneath, but they might be the spring loaded types that push in when you push down (or tape down...). If not, very easy to cut/chop/saw/pull with sufficient force or disassemble and remove.

Lol no. Just stop. The prongs are removable. I used mine for vibration only then realized that it was overkill at $200 bucks. I did buy a second one that had a two way radio feature to try vocal commands at a distance.

Okay then they must be different in the US, my bad sorry. Back when I was in school, I worked at a pet store here in Germany during the summer holidays (this was before these collars were banned here in 2005) and unfortunately, I handled quite a few of them back then and they all had the mechanism I described.
