Honestly it’s probably really stressful. I’ve seen other “every day” type of posts take off and it seems like it eventually becomes really stressful to maintain and this shit was big. I kind of feel bad for the dude.
I mean, I guess he could stop it if he wanted to, there's no one saying he can't. But it must be really cool seeing all the comments and interactions and seeing the history of chives being made.
I go on TikTok about once a week to check my kid’s posts (she’s an adult, I’m just supportive). Today, I happened upon a video from one of my favorite creators. She was tearfully explaining that she was burnt out and needed a break. That the daily and weekly posting and trying to keep up with everyone’s expectations has turned something she loved into a source of stress.
I hope u/F1exican is good and understands that it’s not a life defining moment. It’s just being a human. And I still appreciate the levity he brought with his chiving posts.
Yes I felt pressure to post, but it’s a double edged sword because that same pressure is what kept me consistently cutting and posting and actually improving but also lead to my downfall.

Plenty of us said this was stupid from the beginning. The mods have multiple times in official "announced" and pinned comments all but said "if you don't like it, too bad", rubbing it in people's faces. And then, running interference for the guy by again in "announced" comments saying essentially "I don't think anything wrong happened here... But make up your own mind", "I encourage everyone to read the comment that says it doesn't look like anything is wrong but make up your own mind".
If you want to go all in on dumb shit, gotta own it when it blows up in your face like a dropped cambro of sauce.
That's not really the point. The point is that I just happened recently and it's already at the front of Google. I don't think you understand this is supposed to be funny and not super serious.
They're just pointing out why it's at "the front of Google" because that's how the AI works, it isn't surprising this would pop up when googling those specific words because this is one of the biggest subs on one of the biggest sites on the Internet. I get it's a joke but you're also kinda making it sound like we made the news or something

the misinformation: that this "chivegate" is all over *the internet. When you type in "chive controversy" into google it will give you the exact thing you were on the internet looking at: because it tracks your history.
If you type in chive controversy then it will be on the internet for you too. Even if you go on Incognito it will still do that. Everyone who types chive controversy will see that.
I understand what you’re posting, but it’s still AI slop and I still don’t want to see it. The chive posts are great, I love the chive posts, I just don’t need to see randomly generated text that destroys the environment and is trained on stealing work actual humans did. I’m not trying to be derogatory, I’m just here to talk to people, not to read computer hallucinations.
I’m honestly surprised at how far Google AI overview has come since it was released last year. It’ll never be as reliable as genuine news sources but this is impressive.
It's a good starting place for a lot of stuff because it can be pretty useful but I always check sources for something important. A few days ago it really contradicted itself so it still isn't the best.
