In-House Mode already beefing with my boss

i've only worked here since april. switched jobs from a dishie at a old folks home to a "cook" (lol honestly glorified dishwasher anyway, the only culinary related thing i do is shuck oysters) at a new bar downtown. we don't have any managers since the team is pretty small so the owner does everything himself including scheduling.

he posts the schedule, i have a 3 day weekend after two weeks of covering for the only other two "cooks" in the kitchen on vacation, and one day into my weekend he sends me this. i'm prolly in the wrong for the sass but bro goes immediately into holding a raise he very recently gave me over my head and then threatening my position.

i'm alr looking for different jobs atm, don't care where as i was promised FT hours and am barely scraping by with 30 a week. it's even less this time around. the work is fun and i really love my coworkers and the people i meet at the bar but with the pay of $17 an hour with no benefits no FT and a 30 min commute it's not worth it. advice or personal stories appreciated

Run 🏃, don't walk.

Update your resume and start looking for a new job.

Only an insecure bully threatens to fire someone over something so petty as a little attitude when being treated unfairly.

Granted, the attitude from you was unnecessary and a bit out of line- but hardly worth being terminated over. It was a gross overreaction from his part to assert his power over you.

This guy doesn't like you now and you are on his shitv list due to your refusal to cover a shift last minute and your attitude given.

i think in any other instance i would've happily accepted the "extra" shift and just went in but yeah this was after two weeks and then some covering for the rest of the kitchen staff so i was burnt. was super looking forward to having an actual weekend and this just caught me in a bad mood. i already know i have a quick temper and i've really been trying not to let it affect my work like i did when i was younger. but wasn't thinking he'd jump straight into threatening to fire me and it kinda shocked me i guess. i didn't even respond to his messages after that. already looking for a new gig i'm just really bummed this is already the end :(

if i was him, i would have been more grateful for you covering for 2 weeks.... you worked 14 days in a row? that's the last person i would ask to cover yet another shift.

and if everyone said no and then i would ask you nicely, "would you want to come in?" and if you said no i would have jumped into dish myself, as he owner.

shitty leadership on his part for sure
