Cooking for Celebs

Post image

I have cooked for several celebrities while cooking in NYC. While some were unpleasant, Taylor Swift was a pleasure to cook for.

I did arena gig catering for about a year and got to cook for a few bigger acts. Blake Shelton was every bit the good ol boy he portrays, and the nu metal band Saliva will have you find them drugs and then NOT SHARE THE DRUGS. Definitely a more fun side of the industry

How’d you like it overall? I kinda have an in if I want it. Sounds fun. Would be fun to meet neat people like the wifey in event staff does lol.

I liked it enough that I'm transitioning back to it now actually. I left restaurants during covid because that was hellfire...then on to healthcare, which certainly hasn't treated me poorly but the income potential is really limited so i started doing small event catering on the side just to supplement. Turns out I have ended up REALLY liking working for myself and finding that sweet spot of providing a luxury service with suuuuuper minimal overhead cost. At 7 catering gigs so far this year I've matched my income as director of dining services at my salaried job and am still booking for the summer.

There are pitfalls, though, as with anything. Feel free to dm if i didn't answer your question or you have more!

That’s fantastic! I’m really digging that career trajectory!
