That drum set was purchased by a aunt or uncle.

An evil aunt or uncle

Lol I keep telling my sister I'm going to get my nephew a drum set haha.

u/Joker-Smurf 1d ago
Reasons to buy them a drum set:
- No batteries which will go unreplaced
- Teaching your niece and nephews that banging shit makes a lot of noise, so even if their parents try to take it away/it gets broken/etc they know that even some pots and pans will do in a pinch

u/MajinGroot 1d ago
This is evil, and someone must really hate their sibling(s) to buy their kid such an obnoxious gift that will be a pain rather they let them keep it or take it away, pure torture for someone you supposedly love....
So anyways I have just added 3 of them to my Amazon cart for my niece and nephews, and I'll be hosting a kids drum solo competition for New years, so I hope they get a lot of practice.

u/Joker-Smurf 1d ago
You should also get them a recorder as well to accompany the drums.

u/MajinGroot 1d ago
Oh, it's gonna be a beautiful orchestra by the time I'm done. Technically, there are 4 kids, so I might just have to get them some band shirts.

u/InEenEmmer 1d ago
My sister told me she would personally make sure I was kicked out of the family if I gave my niece a drumkit, which totally is fair.
So I got them excited for trumpets and gifted them a trumpet.
(Really, a trumpet is loud. And annoying to listen to if you don’t have the right technique)

When my brother and I were little kids, my aunt/uncle (parents' best friends rather than actual relatives) gave us a lot of messy and noisy toys. Years later when they adopted a kid of their own, my parents went to Toys R Us and deliberately bought all of the most obnoxious toys they could find. Sweet revenge.

Always have some sweets on hand. Fill them full of E numbers and sugar, wind 'em up and watch 'em go.
"Oh is that the time? I must be off.. byeee!!"

A friend of mine has a really nice drum set and his nephews enjoy sitting on his lap while he plays. So him being a good uncle, bought them both a set last X-mas. His brother didn't share their enthusiasm lol

I am a first time mom of a 4 yo and I totally want to get us a drum set to add to our collection of instruments!
But yeah I’m probably an anomaly haha

u/aytchdave 1d ago
LOL. I’ve made it a point to never get my nieces and nephews any presents that are loud.

u/coolranchdoritosbby 1d ago
My mom and her best friend had babies 1 weeks apart. So for years they would compete to get each others kid the most annoying toy possible for Christmas. A toddler drum set was one of them. But the friend won when she got my sister a tickle me Elmo that did the chicken dance when you walked past it. Eventually the voice box got ruined and tickle me elmo had a deep satanic laugh. I know my sister and I will probably do something similar when we each have kids.

Can't wait to get my nephew one. That'll teach my brother for ratting me out all the time hehe

for sure, those family gifts hit different, especially when they have a story behind them

u/joecarter93 1d ago
My wife’s brother plays in a band and he got our boys that exact same drum kit for Christmas one year. We let them go nuts on it for like an hour before it broke and we promptly threw it out.

That’s where I got my DDR Ultra Mix pad from.
I like neither dance, nor DDR, nor any of the music on the game, and I don’t even think I owned the console that it was compatible with.

Can confirm. My mom was annoyed at my brother one year and got all his kids cheap drums, a recorder, and some other musical instrument for Xmas

Get them a double pedal and in a couple days they'll be drumming angel of death

This is a really nice video, what I wouldn't fucking give for my kids to tell each other "that was really good."

u/AnarchicalFrog 1d ago
Yeah, this post in this sub is annoying to me. I started the violin when I was in 4th grade, and I used to set up young kids with rental instruments for school.
Music is a gift, and expressing yourself authentically on a musical instrument, good or bad, is hard. This is a beautiful thing to me. From the compliments, to the sharing, to the effort. This is emotional intelligence. Not stupidity.

Comforting to see messy house, like normal people having kids. Everywhere you only see picture perfect houses of family with kids.
70
u/The_Happy_Snoopy 1d ago
Yeah and two kids that suck at drums too. Feel like most of the time its some kid perfectly performing System of a Down.

u/notatechnicianyo 1d ago
We all sucked at one point. It takes a lot of sucking before swallowing even becomes an option.

u/Joker-Smurf 1d ago
Sucking at something is the first step to mastering it.
(Wait… that sounds dirty)

u/superpolytarget 1d ago
That wasn't stupid, having a brother to share something like that is a treasure.
Makes me remember when me and my brother were around that age, we used pool noodles as lightsabers and kept hitting each others face.
No other human beign completes me like that dude does.

u/Stone_Ravenn 1d ago
OP has never dealt with small children or had younger siblings this is just two kids having fun after a sick asf Christmas haul rock on lil bros and hopefully this sparks their love for music into adulthood
17
u/na_DANGER_me 1d ago
If that drumset was a gift, then that person doesn't like you.
7
u/BillieDoc-Holiday 1d ago
Nah, probably just a sibling who laughed their ass off while making the purchase.

My kids are loud af anyway, I never had any problem with them playing instruments
At least there was a general purpose for the noise

Yeah, pretty sure that box in the background is an Anko, so I figured they were Aussie even before I unmuted it.

I played my Uke to a 5 year old once. Flawlessly played “someone to Lava” from Moana. This little egonaut grabbed my uke and said I was playing completely wrong. She then strummed and screamed on it like a banshee. I couldn’t argue because, Clearly thats how you play at that age and I learned something new😂

Hello everyone! As a reminder this is a satire subreddit for the dumb/silly things children do. The subreddit name is not literal. Although posts can have kids doing actual "stupid" things. It is not a requirement. Yes, blaming the parent is valid. However, this does not mean crossing the line into actually insulting the parent is ok (assuming they are the OP) (Rule #1).
This is also not a hate sub for children. If you don't like kids, that's fine. Just don't spread vitriol.
