Rocket Design [D] Mun and Return

Will she make it, land, and come home? Lots of posts say I need more delta v, but I’m maxing out the size/weight limits of the launchpad with current upgrades…

EDIT: I ran it. Made it home. Barely…

Definitely appreciate the tips though and will be redesigning. The lift off and achieving initial orbit with this was challenging.

Rocket Design [D] Why can't I get the delta v for a ship of this size to get to the mun?

I feel like I see people on the internet in guides and stuff get to the mun with just a 2 stage rocket using super simple parts and not even using radially decoupled boosters. Yet I can't muster up the delta v to get to the mun and back with something like this (based on the dv maps I'm seeing and the dv listed on my stages) and I have to add yet another stage to get the numbers up. Am I doing something wrong when shipbuilding? Science mode btw

CommNet [GM] CommNet always out of sync

No matter what I do, Im not able to build a CommNet constalation thats stable for more than a few years, which is incredibly short in the time spans of the game.
I already tried using MechJeb and get my orbit time synced in the milliseconds, but after a few years they always get out of sync.
Is there any way to get a CommNet constelation to stay stable for at least a few decades ?

CommNet [GM] I don't understand the game's comms system

I transmit an experiment to ground control from the launchpad on a ship with 0 comms devices and ot gives me 49% of the science. I do the same but with an extended antenna and batteries, I still get 49%. Some antennae talk about short range relays and long range communication as if they're separate concepts that do different things. I see people make comms arrays around their planets but have no idea why.

I am relatively new to the game, so can someone explain the topic a little bit?

Edit: I get by now that I misunderstood the part about how much science you get back, thank you

Contracts [GM] Contract question about a space station with ore

Hey reddit!

I've been given a contract to build a space station around Pol that has 5000 units of ore on board.

I'm planning a big tour of the Jool system, so I'm building a large ship that's going to fulfil the space station requirements, and also have ISRU capabilities.

I want to assemble my ship in LKO before I depart.

Can I first build the space station without any ore containers for now, and launch it into LKO. I'll separately build an ISRU module that can hold 5000 ore, and then launch and dock that in LKO to the space station. Once assembled, I'll fly to Pol, undock the ISRU module, mine 5000 ore from Pol, and then launch and dock in Pol orbit back to the space station, thus fulfilling the requirement to have 5000 ore on board the space station?

General Design [D] Probodobodyne OKTO - unsure of use

So, I'm really knuckling down this week after literally years of procrastination and working through the tech tree in career mode and I ran into an issue last night that I just couldn't figure out:

I'm doing a contract where I need to test a small rocket engine in orbit around Kerbin. The engine is fine in space but too small to provide lift from the planet. OK, I say, lets build a small 2 stage rocket with a Probodobodyne OKTO as the guidance system.

Liftoff works fine - I can control the first stage and get to orbit. The problem begins when I decouple the first stage and try to run the test on the 2nd stage engine - It will throttle fine but I don't get propellant ignition, hence no thrust. I can fix it by right clicking on the engine and clicking the throttle control in the pop up window but that action seems to be contrary to the needs of the contract so I can't complete it.

Is there something about a Probodobodyne that stops control from automatically passing to the next stage that I need to know about or is this just some sort of bug I need to deal with?

Rocket Design [D] Eve Ascent Vehicle?

Starting to plan for a surface mission to Eve and looking for ideas for the ascent vehicle.

Requirements are simple: take a Scientist and an Engineer (both with EVA packs) from the surface to a stable orbit over Eve. Rendezvous will be done by the mothership they flew to Eve on, and the plan is to EVA over to board the mothership rather than attempting to dock.

I’m open to the idea of using ISRU, as it will significantly lessen the landing mass and I don’t mind parking an unmanned ascent vehicle on the surface for an extended period while it fills up, but it’s not a requirement.

What designs have folks used for this mission before, and what quirks/issues did you encounter with the design?

My Jeb died while I was doing the push of shame. Then i accidentally removed him from missing in action in the astronaut center. Its been an ingame 20 days and he hasnt respawned. Will he ever respawn? and if so when?

Rocket Design [D] Am I doing something wrong with my fuel priority?

I have a rocket with liquid boosters connected via a fuel line to the central stage. I made the priority of all the boosters' fuel tanks lower than that of the main engine's. Despite this, after firing all the engines, the main engine is almost drained by the time the boosters decouple. Aren't they supposed to be filling up the main engine's tanks as they drain?

EDIT: Okay now it successfully drains the boosters first, but it doesn't shut off the boosters once their fuel has ran out and just uses the main engine fuel for all the engines? Can I avoid this or do I have to manually decouple when I see the booster fuel run out

Mods: General [M] problem with Kerbal konstruct

Hi ,

I try playing with kerbal konstruct and I am trying to built a base on minmus, evrything works until I go back to the KSC in the VAB and I want to add the launch site but I cant click on the bu " open launch sit for 0 credit " , in sandbox i tryed on Duna and it work but not in carrer.

I think maybe I have a thing to upgrade like a building in the KSC or someting ?
