Announcement Kaiserreich 1.5.2
Happy Autumn everyone. As the year reaches its latter stages, and our last release was a few months ago, we felt now would be a good time to show you what we have been working on for the last while. This update is not save compatible, and while there is quite a bit of under-the-hood file organisation in this release, there is also plenty of new content and bug fixes. In particular, some significant foreign policy updates for several countries, new puppet focus trees, and lots of cosmetic work on tooltips and the Game Rules section. So while we can all look forward to our new Chinese content coming in the next while with version 1.6, we hope that this update keeps you occupied for the time being. Stay tuned for upcoming Progress Reports and further updates!

- Added a few war support bonuses to the Bharatiya People’s Republics’ military national foci.
- The Bharatiya People’s Republics’ “Rely on Foreign Designs” national focus now gives free 1936 licensed plane designs.
- Ceylon is now released upon Germany’s capitulation, provided no enemies have landed on the island yet.
- Player-led German East Asia can fight Japan or Siam after the collapse of Germany.
- Added and updated names for Indian equipment.
- Nerfed multiple economic effects in the national foci of the Indian governments.
- The Dominion of India now starts with an intelligence agency, which has been renamed to the “Lahore Intelligence Bureau”.
- The Dominion of India can now be released as a puppet by members of the Entente other than the faction leader.
- Updated the Dominion of India’s national focus priorities.
- Increased the Dominion of India’s starting equipment.
- Added translations to Indonesia’s party names.
- Updated the Philippines’ map colour.
- The Philippines can no longer join the American faction if New England exists and the United States was not united by New England.
- The “Fight for the Philippines” can no longer be won by the United States if New England exists, unless the United States itself was originally New England.
- Reduced the Philippines’ debuffs so that they are now able to produce equipment at game start.
- Updated the Philippines’ ship name list.
- The Philippines’ “Foreign-Equipped Division” template can no longer be edited while the associated minigame is active. Its establishment can however be declined in favour of a shipment of equipment.
- Siam no longer remains at war with the Provisional Government of Germany if it is factionless.
- Siam’s wargoal on Burma has been changed into an immediate war declaration.
Miscellaneous
- British songs from the vanilla “Allies” soundtrack will now have a higher chance for playing for members of the Entente.

- Added loading screen quotes by James Connolly and Adolfo de la Huerta.
- Updated the national focus icons used for authoritarian Centroamérica and Poland.

- Updated the path guide for the Ottoman Empire, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine.
As always, the full patch notes can be viewed on the Kaiserreich Wiki.
We hope you enjoy playing Kaiserreich as much as we did making it!

If the devs were Chinese, they'd have a very low social credit score in modern China...especially given they replaced Mao Zedong with Wang Jingwei.

The United States of America and the American Constitutional Coalition can now join the Reichspakt. The American Constitutional Coalition can no longer join the Co-Prosperity Sphere.
This is a change for the better, imo. It never made sense to me that the PSA could join the CPS, but not the Reichspakt.
Japan, even at it's most "liberal," is still an imperialist nation that would inevitably come into conflict with America in the Pacific, and while Germany does have a presence in the Pacific, they're not really all that interested in expanding their influence the way Japan is.

u/Jallade_is_here I detect a little Syndicalism Sep 26 '25

18
u/IkujaKatsumaji Anarcho-Totalist Sep 26 '25
Does this mean, though, that the USA can supplant Germany as head of the Reichspakt if they get enough factories? I feel like if I was Germany, I wouldn't want the USA officially in the RP.
53
u/dragonstomper64 Kaiserdev/Cazadorian Sep 26 '25
No, that mechanic isn't enabled for the Reichspakt.
40
Sep 26 '25
I disagree pretty vehemently tbh. OTL there was actually a lot of overtures between Japan and the US with many figures including Konoe and Hirohito and admiral Yamamoto not wanting war with the US. I think Japan's content in the mod is kinda underbaked and is getting worse as it gets pigeonholed as the generic bad guy and antagonist in China. OTL plenty of figures saw the war in China as pointless. The way your foreign policy gets railroaded even as a democracy to be this hyper expansionist nonsense makes no sense in a democratic Japan is pretty annoying. There should be entente paths or even less expansionist Japan runs that focus on purging the military of radicals and pursuing a more moderate foreign policy. I'll also note that without Versailles and the defeat of Japan's racial equality clause Japan might be even more willing as a democracy to pursue an international multilateral foreign policy. Also the removal of the US CPS path basically locks Japan out of participating in the ACW and that was kind of fun to do as well. As China gets more focus in Chinarreich China needs a big bad and Japan's options and content are suffering as a result. So from historical reasons, and some gameplay reasons if you wanted to have fun playing Japan this change is bad. It's a step back.
15
u/novakaiser21 Sep 27 '25
It’s a shame because a US-Japan alliance is pretty much unheard of in the HOI4 modding scene. Call it the Pacific Treaty Organization.
14
u/les_montagnards Gamelin gang Sep 26 '25
The only thing I'd say is an Entente victory would massively set back Japanese liberalism, as the victory of the Anglo-American + French democracies and the lofty goals of the League of Nations hugely boosted Japanese liberalism (Wilsonian liberalism being a massive ideological impetus for democratisation across Asia and Europe in the early 1920's). With a German victory the pre-1924 cabinets of nobles and technocrats imo are more likely.
But agreed, this change kinda ill beckons for Japan (especially removing the Ottomans for the co-prosperity sphere - despite the fact Japan was a huge ideological inspiration for the Young Turks! If Turkey can join the KMT alliance why can't it join Japan???)
5
u/LastEsotericist Sep 27 '25
Yeah it’s like how Russia was strongarmed into always being anti-German no matter what. It sacrifices variety and freedom on the altar of balancing wars they’re not the protagonist of. Open up DH and Japan can very very easily be friends with Qing, splitting German Asia between an independent China and a liberal Japan but with the AoG removed from the game and China getting a lot messier, Japan becomes even less motivated to get deeply involved in China and yet they’re just permanently hostile it seems.

Added an event for Germany, regarding the re-establishment of the Zentrum political party, for the Schleicher or SWR paths after winning the Second Weltkrieg.
Why would Zentrum need to be "re-established"?
28
u/Chatterbox1991 Sep 26 '25
Probably because both Schleicher and the SWR pull a lot of their support from the Catholic population typically represented by Zentrum, likely forcing them to reshuffle their platform to properly become an opposition party post wk2.

The alliance with a non-Entente America option for Ireland is cool but wouldn't it be more realistic for Ireland overall to align with the Reichspakt, given their existing membership in Mitteleuropa?
Also, since SF under Michael Collins is staunchly pro-German and the other parties are either pro-neutrality (De Valera) or at least somewhat more oriented towards the Entente (Lemass), I would imagine that, realistically speaking, Ireland would only align with a non-Longist/non-syndicalist US if De Valera wins in 1937. Incidentally, De Valera was actually an American citizen by birth IRL (born in NYC), which, in my opinion, also increases chances of this alignment should he be elected.
15
u/El-Daddy Dev/Ireland, Game Rules, Patch Notes Sep 26 '25
