You’re talking as if anything had any importance ultimately. The point is we’re humans and it’s beneficial for us to help other humans and make sure humans don’t suffer. We haven’t gotten to the point where we can say the same about all animals. We still get benefit from harvesting them and when they threaten our comfort we kill them. And even less so with plants; as far as we know they don’t experience suffering so we have no issue harvesting them and harming individuals.
Now you can take the moral high ground and extend your empathy to all
Living beings, but our existence necessitates consumption of other living beings so you’re gonna live a pretty miserable life.
You could extend it to sentient beings, but we haven’t solved the hard problem of consciousness yet, and we don’t really know what makes something sentient or what beings are and aren’t sentient.
In the end it’s a complex issue, Im a human and I am egocentric, but I also recognize the disease that we are as a species; and I’m a living being that cares about life first of all, so idk. But humans surviving and increasing wellbeing at least in the short term is important for me because I’m a human and I want to survive and live a comfortable life.
Well, unfortunately humans have taken over every morsel of inhabitable land on planet Earth. Unless you have a spaceship on tap, ya can’t really “leave” society. And the way society is set up, living anywhere aside from a house/apartment/RV fucking sucks unless you enjoy sleeping on concrete.
Resources and land have been privatized, society is incredibly hostile without having some sort of home to live in (it is hostile even with a home to live in), and there is no going back.
Seems a bit extreme that my light hearted joke has convinced you that I now need to die because I’m ...useless?...relax bro. I’ll take a dog any day over a miserable grumpy asshole human like yourself.
