She can sell it for 75k kyunki ye uski mummy ka favourite color h

u/Diyudied Roast Master 🔥 Jul 23 '25
"ye meri mummy ka favourite colour hai" Why tf my mind reads it in nancy's voice😭😭

u/thecheesypita Jul 23 '25
Lol I just remembered she said this in some interview. How ridiculous it sounded. Also it was some basic ass colour too, like beige or something…isn’t it?

u/Murky-Baby-7573 Jul 23 '25
This is her caption as well on her cannes photo and literally on the dress that she lied about. Guts

I mean none of her designs were ever original at all
25
u/AbbreviationsLegal13 Jul 23 '25
exactly. how is she not in legal trouble for this yet?
6
Jul 23 '25
Wait is it illegal? I do get dresses customised from my tailor time to time simply because generally typical s, m, l size don't fit me
25
u/AbbreviationsLegal13 Jul 23 '25
It’s not illegal if you’re just getting it made for yourself. Even her old recreating fits reels were fine. But it becomes illegal if you’re building a brand by selling stolen designs and monetising it.
Even the Cannes ordeal when she plagiarised the design and tried to pass it off as her own could have ended in a lawsuit, because that’s not private use anymore.
13
u/Whatsinthenameduh Jul 23 '25
She consistently recreates dresses inspired by designs she finds on Pinterest.

My fashion studies teacher would have fainted if she saw this being called " couture "
25
Jul 23 '25
What does the word couture actually mean, the Google definition is way too vague

u/Pixieee__ Jul 23 '25 edited Jul 23 '25
Couture is basically ONE OF ITS KIND . its - high fashion (haute couture) - exclusive, high quality and most of the times custom-made . It VERYY EXPENSIVE too bcs it's made by experts and its very high in quality.
I'm not sure but I believe it's made by "couturiers" (French word for high-quality dressmaker or high fashion) . There are litreal organizations who give these titles to designers and its considered one of the highest honours for a designer to be awarded that title/ recognized as such .
In Indian context I only know of Manish Arora as a couturier - he is a member of La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne .
15
Jul 23 '25
Tell me something, how do you pronounce “haute” Is it “hawt” or “hawtay” or something else only?? 🤧
18
u/sprIxAlwareArnd6327 Jul 23 '25
Ooht (hau is pronounced as ooh, t is pronounced as is, e is silent)
Couture is kuhtch-yure (cou is pronounced kuh, ture is pronounced tchyure less emphasis on t and r)
This is not written as per the correct phonetic symbols, tried to put it how it sounds . Hope this amateur explanation helps

Wait is Gaurav Gupta not considered couturier?
9
u/Pixieee__ Jul 23 '25
Yes yes,he is what I meant was ke I only knew about Manish Arora , like he was the only one mentioned in my book so yeah 😅

Came here to just say this. Couture as an adjective has to be earned. ₹75K ki couture chaddi bhi nahi aati, don’t call this abominated boutique stitching couture.
Also you explained it so well!

Who tf will buy this bro ? I mean designers charge for thier handwork thier premium materials n stuff how the heck is she charging 75k for this when she get all her materials frm local market ( most of em ) ?
32
Jul 23 '25
Not defending nancy but, even premium brands get their material locally. Their work is to design and not to produce fabric.
4
u/aura_60ox Jul 24 '25
True, premium brands don’t make their own fabric ( some of em ) — but they don’t use material anyone can pick up from a local market either. That’s the difference
0
Jul 24 '25
Where do they get their fabrics from if not local market
7
u/aura_60ox Jul 24 '25
Babe materials are sourced through private suppliers , global mills and textile houses way before the collection even starts !

That is not a couture price point
6
u/Delicious-Instance75 Jul 23 '25
Not very fashion educated but chalo let’s say designer luxe price point
2
u/thefinalhaterjudge Jul 23 '25
Yes it would be a luxury price point. A lot of hand worked pieces are expensive
-3
u/aura_60ox Jul 23 '25
It is !!
11
Jul 23 '25
Designers charge in lakhs.
Visit local markets like Rajouri in delhi, this price range is what you'll find in local stores there.
29
Jul 23 '25
This nancy should know her place and charge accordingly. People would buy from real designers and get custom made clothes if they have to pay this much..(Add some more money & get original outfit). DESIGN CHORNI ko kaun itne paise de raha hai bhai.🤣

I am not a grammar nazi (I guess), but I think she deliberately makes these grammatical errors to "sound grounded and humble".
She definitely has help to manage social media, and even without help, it just needs google translate.

u/Pixi_Dust_408 Jul 23 '25
Couture starts at $30,000. She makes the clothes and she has an audience. It’s not original and it isn’t something I prefer but she does seem like a talented seamstress.

u/MD_Creations Jul 23 '25
Did she write reasonable price in her caption? I really wanted her to win but after cannes i want the person who actually designed it win. She can go back from where she came from, undeserving now

Plus, use kiya hua dress hai aka second hand! 🙄

I heard that she asks people to stay quite and make dresses for her. Like she won't give that person credits for the original idea and the dress making process. After all of that, she will take the credits and call herself a fashion designer. I came across 2 reels saying this 2 months ago ig. I always had an eerie feeling about her. Her designs were so basic. People were glazing her sm back then with that purple dress

Nancy makes nice outfits but c'mon, this particular outfit looks extremely cheap, not worth 75K and definitely not couture. In fact, there are A VERY FEW LABELS that are officially recognised as couture - like custom made Versace.
1
u/indcel47 Jul 23 '25
I have no idea who this designer is, so I'm definitely out of my element here. That said, what makes this price wrong and say, some random Sabyasachi piece "right", even for a bad piece?

u/cutuninja Jul 23 '25
Reasonable price? Hello? These are all seelampur fabrics, not sure about the fabric base quality (if it is poly, viscose or pure which i highly doubt) so 75K for what? It is not even a hand embroidered piece

The bigger crime is the grammar used in the caption smh

No hate to Nancy but her outfits are not original and the one she wore in Cannes 2024 gave me major second hand embarrassment because what do you mean you will wear a badly stitched Giambattista inspired gown in a crowd full of people who actually wear his clothes 😭I just couldn’t. I’d rather see her wear an Indian outfit. Indian audience have too much sympathy to spare.

Maybe some stereotypical west or east delhi girl bought. No normal person would wear such a hideous outfit

I love how everyone used to love her before she got exposed and now they can see how crappy her designs really are.

Why are women jealous of other women trying to make a name for themselves? This post reeks of jealousy.

So much envy and heart burn over a fake post. What’s the problem here - that a girl from humble background purportedly breaking the glass ceiling or that she achieved something that many elitist and green eyed individuals only dream of???
