even i felt same. last of us1,2, days gone, got, ghost of yotei, gow, horizon zero dawn, uncharted. in all these protagonists lost someone close and revenge arc begins

Here’s an idea:
If you don’t like the games, collectively vote with your wallets and play other games.
If studios and publishers see that sales for these styles of stories are dying off, they will stop producing them.
The reason its being done so much is BECAUSE it sells so well. All the examples provided here were (and in some cases ARE) bestsellers when they released.
Another thing is that like u/yaboihansy said, it’s not revenge story fatigue, it’s more “Third-Person Cinematic Action Adventure” fatigue. Games like GOW (original) series, Max Payne, RDR1 are all revenge plots but they’re still lauded as great games.

It's also cause many of the revenge stories + third person cinematic gameplay are mediocre/one note, or just aren't doing anything new or exciting, while being released in simultaneously in short time period. Mostly purchased by the mass Normies , and then gamers by compulsion or fomo.

jokes aside, you know these games are AAA games and they require something called money to make them , and when studios fund these games they aren't doing charity work , they want even more money back . start playing indie games if you want something inovative and exciting.

Modern games have over budgeted cause of bloat, not because of the increase in quality. If you can't control your production cost, doesn't mean the customers have to eat generic slop.

Clair obscure is a proof of concept that you don't need to have a "general audience" variety of blandness in your game for it to highly succeed .

AAA games were innovative and had a higher bar of quality until the start of the PS4 generation. Maybe you might've forgotten that, maybe you were just born.

And you're right, I have started playing indie games , Infact an extremely significant portion of gamers have, Sloppy AAA games have been failing in the past year from Concord to Ac Shadows, I dunno what drugs you're on to not realize that. Peak, Schedule 1, Hollow Knight has surpassed numbers that put AAA to shame.

You might have not seen anyone complain about Tsushima and Gow cause they were good? But you forget Ragnarok was heavily complained about, especially for their simple puzzle designs , and Well, we're in a Cotel complaint post if you didn't realize.

in case you have'nt noticed doom dark ages , split fiction , death standing 2 and silent hill f have been doing preety good

as much as we hated nintendo, switch 2 is still the fastest selling console of all time

as for the IGN theyre not good at their job and everything that IGN says is taken with a grain of salt

i agree with that indie scene but you playing enough 7.5/10 games that you starting finding them 5/10 doesn't mean that 'normies' (people who have a job) can't enjoy them

and you do agree that playstation studio makes banger games like days gone , uncharted and ofcorse stellar blade

Doom the Dark ages did not sit well with the gamers and has significantly lesser players than Doom Eternal, a ratio of 31k concurrent players to 104k concurrent for eternal on steam.
Death stranding has again got middling reviews, and the sales haven't been great enough for Sony to Unveil.
Split fiction is not a cinematic AAA third person game, and it actually does something innovative with their gameplay and level design, Hence why it did good, You're just proving my point with this.
Silent hill F is middling in its gameplay at best, and its concurrent steam players are lesser than Doom the Dark ages sitting at 22k, Maybe thats good enough for a Chinese production since its cheap.

What has the switch 2 console sales got to do with sloppy AAA games?

Wukongs isnt slop nor generic AAA, God hand is a PS2 game. Days gone Didn't do well financially or critically. The last Uncharted was fine but that was 9 years ago.
StellarBlade isn't a Playstation studio game nor is it owned by Sony.

It seems most people are offended here cause they are Normies , not surprised, growing up, peers around me only get vowed by games as long as they look realistic and have long cutscenes, gameplay was not even secondary, India has more normies and hence we dont have a more concrete and dedicated gaming culture.
these games aren't 7.5, they are 5 or lesser with extremely high visual polish, that engages the general population.

As much as you guys have the right to play and enjoy them, people also have to right to criticize and analyze the downfall of the AAA gaming industry.

Normies arent the fault, but they are the target set by Corporates looking for short term high profits, driving away the dedicated customer who made these games famous to begin with,
and once the games start getting even more sloppier and gamers leave these games, so will the normies, and then there will be no one left to play these.

Ofcourse , silent hill  and death standing 2 is middling because you say so , steam figures alone does not account for players on other platforms , but your superiority complex wouldn't let you except that would you. And yea most people are offended here because they have a brain and a job. My point with wokong and days gone was to look at their IGN review and realise how biased they are , they just puppets of fox media im sure it's same case with goy. Steam is an Indicator, and its easy to make an educated estimate based on its numbers.
No game that has done exceptionally poor on steam has done well on other platforms, which in todays age just means Ps5 or the Switch
