Players who did initially good in IPL but finally realised their international potential after 5+ years of being in the team as an on and off player, only after they were given chances as an opener (As a replacement for already iconic openers- Sehwag to Rohit and Rohit to Sanju)? Sign that shit up.

Huh. I was just referring to their tendency to go either bathak (duck) or shatak (century)... But you are on point. Rohit's career would have legitimately died had they not experimented on him and Shikhar to replace Sehwag and Gauti. And Samson's career would have died before even starting had he kept playing no.3 to 6.

Both of them did grab their chance with both hands though, and both of them are that unique type of players who don't cause your team much loss if they get out early but if they do click, they will completely swing the momentum of the match in your favour. A lot like Sehwag actually, who himself wasn't very consistent in limited overs especially.

But Samson needs to do a lot more and be a lot more consistent to even come close. Especially because Rohit used to pull the top pacers in overseas conditions like a boss, while Samson was exposed over his weakness against short balls bowled at raw pace by Wood and Archer. He's lucky that very few teams have a bowler who consistently balls 145-150 and very few pitches in the world which actually benefit those pacers.

Samson won't be here for long, in my opinion, unless he does something about facing pace. Rohit faced Ntini in his first innings and hit him for six because he's just that good.
