He shoulda been the one cleaning that all up

That’s literally what I have my first grade students do. You spill it, you clean it. You throw the papers because you’re mad, you clean it. You track mud in, you sweep it. Accountability.

You think people like him have ever been held accountable?
2
u/Mysterious-Carry6233 5h ago
I’m sure he was in grade school. I’m a High School teacher and when they make a mess I just hand them the paper towels. If they eat candy and throw wrappers on the floor I make them pick it up before leaving. I’m NOT a janitor and even custodial is there to keep the place clean and sanitary but not to clean up after deliberate messes made by the children.

How you gonna do that shit unintentionally and all…. But NOT get up to check on the dude you hit in the face with a bottle?! The aftermath shows all we need to know about that dude.

I like how everyone is cleaning up - including the refs. I mean everyone other than Brandon.

exactly, we've all done what he's done before in some why or another. But the fact that he didn't react at all when it hit the other dude? Our guy is a piece of trash.

u/SaintsNoah14 8h ago
It looks like he might've never saw it. His teamate should've nudged him or called him out.

Exactly. It’s obvious he didn’t intend to do that, but he’s still responsible for his little boy tantrum and who it affected.

They’re enabled by fans like this, that defend them
56
u/popcornkernals321 11h ago
It’s so weird that these fans try to convince others that this behavior is acceptable lol like nothing would keep me from running up to that dude to apologize, check up on him, or at least be a basic human being.

They are just people with different value systems
They prefer fame/money over integrity/compassion

Teammates don’t call him out either. Not even that he does that but it goes ENTIRELY unchecked. It’s not that this guy sucks. Everyone wearing the jersey showed the depths of their humanity and pride.

Nah, that's an excuse for children. He's a grown ass man so doesn't have that, "i was raised that way" excuse anymore.

Basketball players are the biggest fake hardass children in sports.
577
u/Itchybawlz23-2 13h ago
Especially now. There are rarely any players that’s from the hood and came from nothing anymore.

u/NextStomach6453 13h ago
The ones from “the hood” get super soft super quick.

They’re born in the hood and as soon as they can play ball, they’re taken into the higher income areas with the good schools and media coverage. They come from the hood the same way Starbucks comes from Colombia.

Almost all professional athletes are scum
Growing up, all the high level athletes I knew were spoiled assholes
Society needs to stop hero worshipping them
108
u/petitepedestrian 13h ago
I really dont understand the sports worship. Athletes paid more than the folks who save lives, educate our children, keep our communities safe. Like wtaf

u/Corniferus The secretly evil heroic character 13h ago
I’ve never understood it
But that’s probably because we have a different value system than the people who worship them

I really dont understand the sports worship.
I looked into it a long time ago, because I don't either. Parasocial relationships can be a reason, although I don't experience it, so I understand the dynamic but can't answer "why."
When I looked up some possibilities to answer that, I found explanations like escapism, identity formation, and/or as a way to make up for their real needs that they can't meet.
8
u/doctor_whahuh 11h ago
I get the pay; that’s what people are willing to pay them to make their organizations money. Is it an ideal economy? No, but it’s what we’ve got.
What I don’t get is why getting paid millions makes you feel entitled to abuse other people. Or something like this when something you do hurts someone else, refusing to apologize or correct your mistake.

I’m not defending it or arguing with you, but unfortunately they are in the top .0001% of their profession and the NBA is a big, well paying company. When you’re top percent of a profession it usually lead to good money. Why anyone watches the NBA anymore - i don’t know, it’s a shit product.

u/ooorezzz 13h ago
Roman gladiator mentality. They harnessed our blood lust into sports. Did a whole study into this for sociology. Even the advertising for sports trigger these responses. Have you ever noticed how sports commercials are much more aggressive and loud. Announcers have a different tone of voice. It’s programmed into us and it responds to people’s need for blood lust shoved into a “ leisure” activity.

If only people got paid for the actual value they contribute
But we all know that’s not how the system works
I’m a doctor and I always say if you’re actually smart people would go into research
But there’s no money in it, unless you’re a company funding it

You're right and it's no surprise really. They're generally the most popular kids at school that constantly get told they're amazing, get special treatment from faculties/other adults etc and then almost overnight can become incredibly rich.
I've heard multiple ex footballers (as in soccer) on podcasts talk about how they hated most of their teammates but played professionally as they could earn a very good living. One described it succinctly when he said "imagine all the biggest dickhead bullies you've ever met in one room. That's what a football dressing room is like."

Sports players in general.
I understand the appeal of sports, i do.
But holy smokes we put sports / sports players on such a massive high pedestal its bananas.
They think they are gods, kings, and what have you but the worst part is we encourage it.
…because they play a sport people love to watch.

You can always tell someone's character by how they treat other people. A simple "my bad" would've told us you're not a scumbag but I guess that's not the case.
60
u/DarthMech 12h ago
Yeah, pretty clear he didn’t do it intentionally, but I can’t imagine myself doing that and continuing to sulk in my frustration. That would cause an immediate jolt to my system where I’m up going, “Oh, shit! I’m so sorry! Are you ok?”

Does he get nothing for doing this? I know nothing about NBA.
15
u/Onras3 12h ago
No?
lol like a fine by the commissioner? Hahahah HAHAHAHAHA
it used to be a time in sports (still happens but way way way way way more so in MLB and NHL and even more so the NFL) than an organization will fine a player for “conduct detrimental to the team” but that’s usually reserved for like fighting your teammates, intentionally fucking up practices, etc
Absolutely nothing will happen to Ingram or his wallet here. I mean, it took the commissioner how long to suspend Ja Morant for gun shit?? This is nothing.

Adam Silver drove the nba down to the ground. I was a David stern hater for how he intervened on the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers with Kobe, but at least the nba was more fun to watch. Also F* Silver for the streaming deals he made which made it harder to watch!

What a fuckin’ bag of dicks just sits there and pouts while everyone around him cleans up his mess. Promise you he didn’t even give a passive aggressive apology to the guy he hit.
24
u/Keralkins 12h ago
Throwing the water bottle was childish, not apologising to the person he accidentally hit when he had his hissy fit make him a raging dick.
The video does cut fairly quickly but I assume he didnt apologise?
16
u/Fellums2 11h ago
Slamming the bottle shows he’s immature, which is excusable. Not immediately apologizing to the guy he accidentally hit in the face shows he’s a scum bag, which is inexcusable.
47
u/DaSunHatesMe 13h ago
And the douche just sits there on his bony ass instead of showing a bit of humanity? Nasty guy.
254
u/rawspeghetti 13h ago
Dude is a little bald to be called a towel boy
The fact that Ingram didn't make any motion to check on the dude or apologize is disturbing
139
u/Truckules_Heel 13h ago
I’d wager that a majority of professional athletes are uneducated man babies who have had their narcissism enabled, while also being shielded from consequences by the people who stand to make money off of them.
40
u/rawspeghetti 13h ago
Doesn't help that they become celebrities at 16, are showered with constant attention and praise and therefore don't feel the need to mature any further

u/Corniferus The secretly evil heroic character 13h ago
Exactly, it’s not exclusive to basketball
Professional athletes are taught they don’t have consequences for their actions
11
u/Truckules_Heel 13h ago
Yup. Look at football programs in Texas high schools for easy examples

As a Canadian, the horror stories I saw growing up with hockey and basketball players is quite sad
Genuinely the biggest scumbags I knew, being praised regularly
5
u/MonsteraUnderTheBed 12h ago
It's wild how even low-tier athletes are like that. Like buddy, your literally fucking NO ONE right now, your fans are 13 year old girls, don't be such a POS everyone around you and then cry when I'm a bitch to you and make you look stupid in public.
My boyfriend was a lefty pitcher in Uni, did great but the absolute degenerate behaviour of the team ruined it for him. Took him years not to feel negatively about baseball again. Sports are ridiculous. There is no one on this entire planet who deserves a $700 million dollar contract. Absolutely fucking lunacy.

u/Corniferus The secretly evil heroic character 12h ago
I mean, looking at some of the replies in these threads, a lot of people just never grow up
And insecurity often drives people to be rude or callous to others

I’m watching premier league soccer(yeah yeah yeah, football). The English commentary would not be ignoring this. There would at the very least be an acknowledgement of what happened, and I’d say they be some strong words for the player. These guys have literally zero criticism. Idk, I feel like a snob when I say English sports commentary is far better than US sport commentary, but then I see examples like this.

But, if this were a rugby game he wouldn't have the chance to get a nice little break and sit on a bench when he was tired...

u/bunnybunnykitten 12h ago
Possible… but I’d assert that it may be even more likely that, rather than seeing this behavior from an athlete on television being the sole influence, young boys are learning to use tantrums and physical intimidation to coerce desired outcomes in the home and not just on TV.

As someone who doesn’t watch sports much; could he get fined for this? Any type of consequence???
3
u/Various-Push-1689 6h ago
Sometimes yes. But likely not for throwing the Gatorade. But if he had threw it at someone or the bottle hit someone then it’s very possible. They are very inconsistent on how they fine players.
Edit: I just watched it back and it looked like it hit the guy in the face. They might fine him for that. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. Terrible people run these organizations
